Frugal Friday 2021....the January 15th Edition

Here's what passed for frugal last week around Chez Sluggy.........

* I finally! returned some clothes I got on clearance last January for Ex-College Boy to give him for Christmas in 2020.  Seems when he moved out in July he found a bunch of never worn clothes similar to these in the disaster that was his bedroom so he no longer needed these items.  I wanted to make sure he didn't need the clothes so I waited until Christmas was over and I ALWAYS keep receipts. lol

Just short of $49 in shopping credit back to spend on ME! ;-)

*  My CBD oil order finally arrived safely.  I ordered this back in early December.  According to the UPS tracking it made it to the NEPA distribution center here and then UPS sent it back to the company!  I got an email that it was delivered right after Xmas so went outside to find it....nope nothing there.  So I expanded the details and Shannon from the loading dock  received the package.  Hmm, no Shannon's here and we don't have a loading dock so it seems UPS sent the package back to the company in IL. lolz

Long story longer, said company reshipped it and UPS decided to actually deliver it to me this go 'round.  The company is still waiting on an explanation why they did that other thing last time.

I'm just happy it arrived NOT broken(glass bottles were not packed well).  I got a great deal on this lot-buy 1 bottle and get 5 free plus free shipping.  go. me.

* I found money!

I found 3 pennies at Dollar General last Saturday.  Two near the register and another on the sidewalk outside the building as I was walking in.

Then I found this dime at Rite-Aid.  It was in the sliding door entrance track just waiting for me to cross the threshold and pick him up!

Found Money This Week.... .13¢
Found Money This Year...... .17¢

* I found an on sale Larabar at R-A on Tuesday with a peelie coupon........

Paid .49¢ in Bonus Cash and the Coupons dotcom app sent me $2.29 to my Paypal account for buying it. ;-)

*  I finished the Ibotta $10 Bonus this week between offers at CVS, Rite-Aid and Walmart(plus shops last week at Weis and Rite-Aid)......

I also earned $ on ShopKick, Checkout51 and Fetch Rewards for some of this, stacking various rebate offers.  I used $30 in free gift cards at Walmart to bring the total OOP at all stores down to $45.79 and earned $108.39 back in cash rebates.

*  I also got a refund one one R-A transaction because my 20% Wellness Discount didn't come off of the regular priced items..........

This money went into my Refund/Post Coupon envelope and basically converted $7.73 of Bonus Cash into real cash.

*  We got Stromboli from a local pizza joint last Friday as Ex-CB came over. I made a Caesar Salad to go with it. Finished using a gift card for that joint so only had to pay OOP for a little more than half of the cost of the Strombolis.  It was a lot of food and we've had the leftovers twice for lunches this week(plus sent some home with Ex-CB).

We also got lunch out at Applebee's on Tuesday and used a $25 gift card so only $12.63 OOP including the tip.  Gotta keep on top of these gift cards!

* On the "Use Down the Pantry/Freezer" Front.......

This is an old popcorn barrel I washed to reuse to store dry goods.  I filled it 3/4 full last year with a bulk elbow pasta buy at one of the Amish grocery outlets around here for very little money.  We've been working our way through this dried pasta supply all of 2020.  I made macaroni salad yesterday in prep for tonight's dinner.  I think one more dish of mac and cheese, American Chop Suey or a soup with noodles with finish this off.  rah.

That's about it from my part of the world.

What's going on frugal-wise in your corner of the world?

Frugal Finds Despite The Week's Events

On Wednesday, while we waited on Hubs to go to surgery, I did a little shop at Rite-Aid..........

1 x Centrum gummies vitamins on sale...$6.99
2 x Progresso soups on sale....$2.50
2 x Russel Stover sugar-free candies on sale....$4.00
SubTotal.....$13.49

Coupons Used
1 x $4/1 Centrum gummies ManuQ(from Parade magazine)=$4.00
1 x $1/2 Progresso soup IPQ=$1.00
2 x $1.50/1 RS sugar-free candy R-AQ from Wellness Wednesday flyer=$3.00
Coupon Total.....$8.00

$13.49-$8.00=$5.49 OOP
I used $5.99 in Plenti Points to pay.
I earned $4.00 in SavingStar cash rebates($3 Centrum, $1 Progresso)so I am "down" $1.49 in Plenti Points.
In the end, the soup "cost me"(on points) .25¢ per can, the candy .50¢ per bag and the gummy vitamins were a .01¢ moneymaker.  8-)

On Thursday, after visiting Hubs, I hit Macy's.

I had bought this online before Black Friday.....

2 pack of Burt's Bees lip balm....$5.80 + .35¢tax=$6.15 with Free Shipping.
I used Plenti Points to pay so nothing OOP.

This purchase earned me $10 in Macy's Money which was valid this week.
I was in need of a new 2 cup measuring cup as the markings on mine had worn off from use over the years.

I found one for $5 and change on sale so I bought 2 coffee cups to give for presents to finish using the free $10 chit........

The coffee mugs are large 2 cuppers and made by Pfaltzgraff so they are good quality.
All this with the lip balms too cost me $3.49 including tax OOP in real cash.

A need met and bonus gifties too for $3.49.

I also hit Kohl's on Thursday to use $20 in Kohl's Cash to get my eldest son a present.  After KCash the present cost me $7.50 OOP.

The shopping here is now complete.  I am just waiting on something to arrive in the mail so I can send Eldest son and the Finacee their Christmas gifts.
Since we are home bound for the Holidays now I am having to mail gifts.  Since some of them are heavy(and would cost more in postage than I spent on them!)I'll just keep those for next year or hand carry them to them the next time we get down to VA and we'll have Christmas in March or June. lolz

Now I get to go add up all the receipts and see how bad the presents damage is to our finances.  I am figuring it's not too bad but I don't know exactly how much I'v'e spent at the moment.

Now I am off to clean up my invalid and feed him lunch so he AND ME can take a nap this afternoon.

What good deals have you found this week?

Online Shopping.....Got Me Some Deals!

Last weekend, while I was stuck sitting or laying around the house due to my foot I did some online shopping.

#2 Son needed new clothes as I hadn't bought him any since getting him some cargo shorts in the Spring.  He hadn't grown much but all his duds were wearing out.
So I sat him down last weekend on the edge of my bed and made him pick out stuff.  I must say that this method is much easier than trying to take him to the store and wait for him to point at something and grunt at me.  8-)

So we shopped and I added a couple of items in the old shopping basket for myself and I checked out virtually.

Here's what we got.....

3 x Cargo Pants  Reg. $52.00 pr.  on sale $29.99 pr.
2 x Band T-Shirts  Reg. $20.00 ea.  on sale $14.99 ea.
1 x Henley thermal Shirt  Reg. $25.00  on sale $14.99
2 x L/S T-Shirt  Reg. $20.00 ea.  on sale $9.99 ea.
1 x Women's Nightgown Reg. $36.00  on sale $20.99
1 x Women's Sweater  Reg. $40.00  on sale $28.00

Regular retail total was $337.00
Sale subtotal was $203.91

I had a code for an additional 25% off which brought the total down another $50.98 so my total was $152.93.  (The total for #2's stuff was $116.19.)

I got free shipping because the total was over $75 AND I got $30 in Kohl's Cash, so I'll get another $30 worth of clothing for free.

Then #2 Son couldn't wait for these clothes to arrive so he went up to Kohl's and spent another $120 something on 2 more pairs of pants, 3 more shirts and a jacket.  He got some good deals but he didn't get the 25% off I got online....sigh.
And he earned another $20 in Kohl's Cash so now I have $50 in that script to get him some more garments.  I'll probably pick up some underwear and socks and who know what else for him.

So around $236 for a complete wardrobe for the teen.
Not too bad for things he needed.
And we are good now on clothes for him until Summer weather 2014.
