This week in your comment I want to hear about the raging debate. Not what party you voted for but how do you handle the Thanksgiving/Christmas(or whichever other Winter Holiday you celebrate) Debate about what to serve. In my culture, the traditional main dish for Thanksgiving has been Turkey. So the question becomes what do you serve for Christmas dinner? Another turkey or something else? 2 big turkey dinners in consecutive months seems a bit much and stuck in a rut for some people, but if not turkey then what? And tell me why you choose your Christmas protein(or substitute protein if you are vegetarian).

Of course I follow you...I would follow you into hell....
ReplyDeleteTurkey, no debate. Somehow, I missed the memo on macaroni and cheese being a mandatory Southern dish for both days
ReplyDeleteI feel cheated if I don't have Turkey, dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy with boiled eggs in it, and Jello salad with fruit cocktail, bananas, and apples. Yes, I am a child again.
You are on my blogroll.
ReplyDeleteThere isnt much of a Thanksgiving debate since I own my grandparents house I automatically get Thanksgiving. But for the first year I am assigning people to bring things such as Alcohol, salad, chese/dips, and a few deserts. The free ride is over family so pony up.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is easy it is just us so no big deal. We usually keep it low key..Christmas Eve mass, one gift opened before they go to bed and a pretty calm Christmas. I like it better that way
We do turkey baby! And a million side dishes. I think we have the tendency to go overboard on every aspect of our lives.
ReplyDeleteYou're in my blogroll of course. And holidays... eh. I just grin it and bear it. I have to be at my parents', lest I'm ready to be disowned (I sort of am, but I'll hold off). So quick dinner, hiding in my room, and then back to work. Have no choice over the food, but we tried turkey a while back and it was very unpopular. We stick with 2 large chickens and call it a day.
ReplyDeleteI grew up eating turkey for Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas. Hubby's family has turkey and brisket for Thanksgiving and turkey and ham for Christmas. At MY house it is turkey for TDay and ham for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYou are on my blogroll.
ReplyDeleteLast year, since Hubby and I were alone on Thanksgiving, I brined and roasted a turkey breast, with all the sides of course. It was AMAZING. All the kids did stop by, surprising us, but they were full and didn't eat. Fine by me....more leftovers for us.
ReplyDeleteAll this talk of turkey has made me want some. I think I will do a turkey breast and all the sides on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one entering every day????
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for turkey and cranberry sauce.
I really want to win.
