I used $21.01 in Plenti Points to pay and earned back $19.00 in new Plenti Points($1 wyb3 Mentos, $2 Crest toothpaste, 2 x $3 Glide items, $3 Oral-B item, $7 wyb1 GE).
So the Glide products were a .01¢ moneymaker each, the Mentos, toothpaste and toothbrush were all free, the light bulbs cost .99¢ and the tablecloth was .50¢ and I paid .54¢ in tax.(all in PPs of course).

I was going to get another toothbrush but the Load2CardQ didn't come off my card so I just got one toothbrush with the ManuQ I had.

I went back Wednesday morning and got this on my son's card........

The dental floss/picks were an .18¢ moneymaker, the toothpaste and toothbrush were free, the lightbulb pack was .99¢, the candy was .50¢ per bag and the cookies were .63¢.
I spent down my Plenti Points by $2.91.
I hadn't planned on getting the candy or cookies but the Wellness Wednesday Qs they had were too good not to.  The cookies are for Hubs to have with his coffee and the candy will be put into Xmas stockings come Christmas.

It's strange that when I bought the freebies on my card the Oral-B L2CQ didn't come off(so I couldn't get that second toothbrush(I had a ManQ to get one)but on my son's card the L2CQ DID come off!
Hmmm.

I'll probably go back before this sale week is up on Saturday to get the oral care freebies on Daughter's card too....if anything is left by then.

Since it was Wellness Wednesday(the first Wed. of the month at my store)I brought a few freebie samples home too.........

Toothpaste, arthritis balms and eye vitamins.  Most of this(along with some of all the stuff I actually "bought") will begin appearing in future Giveaway boxes.  8-)))

What good deals did you get at your local drugstore this week?

Shopping This Past Week

Well I went to Maine Source earlier this week since they were having their Customer Appreciation Sale.  Once a year everything in the store is 10% off, even stuff that they NEVER put on sale.
How could I NOT go? ;-)
I spent $62.56, picking up 3 jugs of a favorite peach tea, a large jug of a sesame dipping sauce(we use for potstickers.....a jug lasts us about 2 years), a gallon of Russian dressing, a quart of plain yogurt, a bag of russets, roma tomatoes, asparagus, 5 lb. of freshly ground beef, a 20 lb. bag of onions, and some paper plates as we are almost out.
The produce and meat were already on sale so the 10% addition off on those was a bonus.

I also hit the Dollar Tree as we were out of potstickers and bottled lemon juice.  Also bought were egg noodles, breadcrumbs, wine vinegar and rolled breakfast sausage.  We like the brand sold for $1 at Dollar Tree plus even though it's got more fat in the mix than the premium brands at the grocery stores, it's a better deal penny for penny.  This brand is .10¢ per ounce while the average premium brands run .25¢ per ounce.
Total spent at Dollar Tree was $20 OOP.

Hubs picked up some bottled water, a cuke, grape tomatoes and slicing tomatoes this week too, at that local Shursave affiliate grocer, for $7.45.

Hubs also stopped at Target to use that $3 Catalina I got before Easter.  He picked up 2 packs of mushrooms for $3.98, so spent .98¢ OOP.  I used the shrooms in my Rustic Beef Bourguignon.

A quick run to Weis(PMITA)Markets yesterday for more mushrooms, lettuce, pearl onions, milk, 50% off green tea, 50% off bakery items(including a small cheesecake for Hubs birthday)and potato chips Hubs requested cost another $21.25.
I also picked up a small package of P&P loaf lunch meat.......

I've never had this before so I thought for .99¢, why not?  I don't make a habit of buying processed lunch meats(due to the sodium content)so this was a special treat.....well, if I like it. lolz
Surprisingly it's not as sodium-filled as I had thought at first glance.
P&P stands for pickles and pimento by the way, but looking at the ingredient list it seems the second "p" is actually for red peppers.
Hubs was shocked to learn at the store that I had never eaten this lunch meat in my youth.
His family growing up was frugal because they had no money basically so he ate whatever lunch meat was cheapest for lunches because that's what his mom bought.  Usually it was PBJ or bologna but on occasion the lunch meat du jour had been p&p loaf.

So we've spent $112.24 last week on groceries.

I also popped into Rite-Aid this week to do a quick transaction and try to use Ibotta at Rite-Aid. Using Ibotta is different at R-A since you have to unlock rebates and then link your Plenti card to the Ibotta app on your phone and verify purchases/have your phone on and with the Ibotta app open on it at the time of the purchase to get credit for those rebates.  You don't submit a receipt to the app after your purchases at home.  I was dubious it was going to work since there was nothing on the phone to scan or anything but I got an email this morning that I got that rebate. yay!
Ya is right because now I don't have to return the St. Ives. ;-)

Here's what I bought.........

2 x St. Ives facial scrubs bogo50%=$7.93
1 x large Purex detergent 50% off=$6.14
SubTotal......$14.07

I used a $1/1 St. Ives Scrub ManuQ knocking the total down to $13.07.
Sales tax added another .78¢ so my total was $13.85 and I used Plenti Points to pay this amount.

I earned $3 in new Plenti Points for buying the St. Ives.
I earned $3 cash rebate on Ibotta for buying the St. Ives. already received
I earned another $1 in Plenti Points as I activated an offer on my Plenti account online for$1 off St. Ives. already received
I also earned $5 in Plenti Points as I activated an offer on my Plenti account online for Purex(spend $15 get $5 in points-this put me over the $15 needed-I had used a rain check 2 weeks ago and bought 6 jugs of the smaller Purex jugs at $1.99, paying with a free R-A gift card). already received

So $13.85 in Plenti Points used and $12 in a combination of Plenti Points and Cash Rebates earned back, making this a $1.85 "spent down in Plenti Points" transaction for me.

1 x 150 load laundry detergent and 2 facial scrub products for $1.85 including tax isn't too bad, right 8-)

So that's about all I got here.
Did you find anything that was a good buy last week at the stores?

Keeping Costs Lower Where You Can

I was out already this morning to run two errands.
First to Weis(PMITA)Markets........

6 x Dinty Moore stew on sale $1.87 ea.=$11.22
2 x Whack Biscuits on sale $1=$2.00
1 x Smart Balance spread on sale=$2.50
1 x Bakery rolls 50% off=$1.64
4 x StarKist tuna on sale .77¢=$3.08
SubTotal.......$20.44

Coupons Used
3 x $1/2 Dinty Moore ManuQ=$3.00
1 x $1/2 Pillsbury fridge goods IPQ=$1.00
1 x .75¢/1 Smart Balance IPQ(doubled to $1)=$1.00
2 x $1/2 StarKist IPQ=$2.00
Coupon Total.......$7.00

$20.44-$7=$13.44 OOP
$32.35 in reg. retail so I saved 50.45% on this order.

I also have a $1/2 Pillsbury biscuits Rebate clipped on my SavingStar account so I'll be getting $1 back there too, making this $12.44 OOP.
(I am up to $21.00 in rebates on SavingStar and it's only January!)

The canned stew will go into College Boy's emergency food stash and the tuna may be headed for the food bank.  Rolls, biscuits and spread are for us.

While I was at Weis I dropped off a rx to transfer.
Since we have a $3K deductible at the beginning of each new year for our medical insurance I have 2 different scripts for my high cost prescription.  Same medicine but different delivery system means the Usual and Customary for one if $355+ and the other same drug/diff. brand/system's Usual and Customary price is $250+.
So when we have to pay the full U&C before we satisfy the deductible and are then only charged the co-pay price of $45, I have the lower U&C cost drug refilled.

So I transferred this lower cost drug rx to Weis' pharmacy today.......

Yes, that's $251.69 for 1 rx refill!  But it could have been $350+!
At least I also earned 60 gas points for this purchase.
I am trying to look at this as the glass is half full here...... lolz

But why transfer the rx to Weis?
Well, this week when you have them transfer or fill a new rx you can get a $20 Weis gift card(as well as all those gas points).
So that's what I did and got.......

Hey, I figure I have to pay the same price for this medicine no matter where I have it filled so why not have it filled at Weis this week and get $20 of free groceries?  ;-)
Rite-Aid only gives me a piddly 25 Wellness points per rx so I get more of a perk at Weis even if it's just gas points.

Just working the system to keep my food spending costs down for 2016.

Then I went up to Rite-Aid for this stuff........

2 x Charmin TP on sale=$13.88
6 x Coke 12 packs on sale 3/$11=$22.00
2 x Cover Girl eye shadow BOGO50%=$5.08
2 x Cover Girl plumpify mascara BOGO50%=$14.98
1 x Centrum Vitamints on sale=$6.99
SubTotal.......$62.93

Coupons Used
2 x $1/1 Charmin IPQ=$2.00
6 x MyCokeRewards Free Q=$22.00
1 x $2/2 Cover Girl eye or lip ManuQ=$2.00
2 x $3/1 CG Plumpify mascara ManuQ=$6.00
1 x $4/1 Vitamints IPQ=$4.00
2 x $3 OYNO CatalinaQ(from Friday's trip)=$6.00
Coupon Total......$42.00

Except a $4 Load2Card for Vitamints also came off that I had forgotten about and the cashier didn't notice(nor did I until I was in the car)so he manually forced the paper Vitamints Q through and I got an extra $4 off my order.

If you also clipped the $4 Vitamints Rebate on SavingStar you can make the vitamin purchase a $1.01 moneymaker after Q and Rebate(unfortunately I didn't clip that one a couple of weeks ago before they ran out of offers).

$62.93-$46.00=$16.93 + .48¢ tax=$17.41 OOP.
I used $17.41 in Plenti points to pay so no cash spent.
I earned $32.00 in new Plenti points for the order..........

$10 in Plenti points for spending over $30 on P&G items
$10 in Plenti points for #1 Bonus spending over $30.
$10 in Plenti points for #2 Bonus spending over $30($62.93 total spent before Qs).
$2 in Plenti points for buying 6 packs of Coke items($1 per 3 packs x 2).

$32 in new points, spent $17.41 in old points which makes this a $14.59 moneymaker on this card.  8-)))

So I spent $13.44 cash and got $32.35 in reg. retail of groceries, $20 in free potential groceries, $97.67 in reg. retail of toiletries, drinks and paper goods and $14.59 in more new points than I spent down.  The rx refill is a wash as I had to have that filled somewhere anyway but the .60¢ additional off my next gas fill-up is a nice little bonus.

But that $251.69 spent for meds still hurts......lolz

Have you ever moved prescriptions to gain perks like free gift cards or rebates?
I did this 2 times last year at Weis for $40 in free gift cards there and I also moved rxs to Kmart's pharmacy last Spring for $60 in free gift cards there and also earned $10 in free stuff after having my 5th refill purchased there.  That's $110 in free gift cards just for filling prescriptions that have to be filled anyway.  Why not get something else I can use as a bonus, right?
