Frugal Friday....the October 7th Edition

Welcome to Frugal Friday!

There are a few Frugal wins this past week so here goes....

*  Grocery shopping this past week........

This is what got bought at Walmart last Friday with Ibotta rebates, the Kraft boxed mac/cheese went to the son in-law and the coffee drink to my daughter.  I spent $70.40 OOP on what is pictured and got back $35.12 on Ibotta plus another $5 for hitting the Weekend Bonus and another $1.25 in various bonuses.
And I received $11.00 on Shopmium and $5.75 on Alexa so $19.15 OOP in the end on all this. (I also earned $5.20 worth of Shop Kicks too but those get counted once I cash out on that platform.)

Then I went to Kroger and a different Walmart on Tuesday and got this Ibotta valid stuff(plus 2 Two Good Yogurt Shakes not in the photo).....

This(plus the yogurt)all cost me $52.15 OOP.  I got back $16.50 on Ibotta, $11.50 on Shopmium, 775 Fetch Points, 801 Swag Bucks and 1,065 Shop Kicks(or $4.26).  So $24.15 after rebates but before cashing in on Fetch, Swag and Shop Kick eventually.

And this stuff that was a good price but didn't have Ibotta rebates on it.....

The soup and cake mix were part of the .99¢ sale at Kroger.  I picked up the wet dog food at Walmart as it's marked down from $1.99 each to $1.28 each.  I also got 340 Shop Kicks on the dog food so $1.36 back once I redeem those SK points for a gift card.

I also got 4 Ibotta rebates on Wednesday for these 3 items(the Spray n' Wash qualified for 2 different rebates).  This above cost me $14.99 OOP. I got $6.60 for these on Ibotta plus another $5 for hitting the Midweek bonus, so $11.60 in rebates.  Then $5 from Shopmium so $16.60 back on $14.99 spent.  Nice.
I also got 10 Shop Kicks on this trip and earned $5.01 on Swag bucks for the TruSkin product and $8 worth of points on Fetch for same TruSkin item.  8-))

So in total I spent $154.35 so far this week OOP on everything and got back $61.22 on Ibotta, $27.50 on Shopmium, $5.75 on Alexa so $101.47 back on $154.35 spent.

Add in the Fetch Points of 9,071(which puts me just shy of a $10 Kroger gift card), Shop Kicks worth $10.86, $10.83 worth of Swag Bucks and my Kroger Cash Back which came to $1.40 this past week and once I cash all that out(it's $33.09), my OOP on everything bought this week so are will cost me $19.79 in the end.

I am 9 items away from earning a big $10 Bonus on Ibotta so I'll be picking up 9 more items later today before we leave town.  I probably won't have time to add those into my totals but it will be items we can use(or I can give to my daughter for her use).

*  I also found a discarded receipt outside of Walmart on Wednesday.  I scanned it into Ibotta and got .60¢ for free!  I think of this as finding money on the ground because it IS money and I only had to pick up a receipt laying on the ground. lolz

*  My new bras arrived this week.  I will not be showing those off(because really, who wants to see an old, short, fat lady in her unmentionables).lol  I will say that I had to order ones that are 10 band sizes smaller than what I had been wearing and that they were on sale and when you bought at least 2 you received free shipping.  8-))

* My stipend arrived to pay for rides, food, incidentals on our trip to Ohio for surgery.  I am so thankful for this program we were able to participate in through Hubs old work insurance.  Once I have to have my other knee done I have a problem getting it done here which I'll talk about later.

*  Since we now have a significant amount sitting in the checking account which earns close to zippo I finally went and bought a CD and moved about half of what was in checking into that.  The CD is with the same bank but it earns 5% for a 12 month instrument.  Putting that money to work to earn some passive income is definitely a win! ;-)

*  We didn't eat out a single meal this week.  I figured we were going to be doing nothing but eating out(or ordering in)once we got to Columbus.  Anybody in the Columbus area want to meet up?  I'll have a little bit of free time Sunday, Monday afternoon and a bit on Tuesday.  Of course we won't have a car so you may have to come to us or meet us somewhere our hotel. Just shoot me an email if interested. 8-)

*  I found money!

I went with Hubs to his eye exam at a Walmart that is not our usual location and found this shiny penny by a register.

Total Found in last Week.... .01¢
Total Found this Year.......$3.11

*  As I was getting clothes ready to pack into my suitcase I checked the pockets of the jacket I took on the cruise in May.  I found all this.....

A fiver in one pocket.......

And 3 singles and the free unused headphones Air Canada gave out on our flight from London to Montreal.  I probably jammed these bills into my jacket pockets in case I needed to tip someone at one of the airports we flew out of/into.

I LOVE finding money, don't you?  But I am not going to count this toward my Found Money Goal for 2023....though the Challenge sure could use this boost as finding money around here has been fairly rare as finding hen's teeth as the expression goes. ;-)

That's all I got.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

Hopefully all goes well and according to plan and I'll be back blogging next weekend unless I can figure out how to post from my phone while in Ohio.  If you don't mind, I'd appreciate if you can keep good thoughts for me, especially this coming Wednesday. ;-)

Frugal Friday.....the April 22nd Edition

 So here are a few of the frugal-ish things that happened here this past week.......

*   No food waste last week. Eating lots of leftovers and bits and pieces we already have.

* I cobbled together our Easter dinner totally from what we already had here.  A turkey breast from the freezer, stuffing and mashed potatoes from boxes and corn from a can.  Nothing spent OOP and it was plenty for us(plus leftovers).

* I haven't bought any food so far this week.  That may change if I go to Walmart later today. 8-)

*  I cashed in some Swag Bucks for a $25 free gift card(which is why I may be going to Walmart later).

*  Another purse sized bottle of hand sanitizer for free from Rite-Aid on Wednesday again.  I went there to hand off some liquor to a friend.

*   I found money!

When I went in to hand off some liquor at Rite-Aid I spied this penny sitting in the middle of the aisle floor back toward the pharmacy area.  At least I didn't get skunked last week even though I barely went anywhere. ;-)

Total Found in last Week...... .01¢
Total Found This Year......$10.35

*  I found that Rite-Aid changed the brand of a medication I use and it just isn't working for me.  Talked to the pharmacist and she said that brand is no longer available.  She neglected to tell me it just isn't available at Rite-Aid.  Grrr  So I found it elsewhere and transferred that Rx which they will mail to me(saving me having to travel to pick it up) plus I will save $25 on it to boot. Win/Win for me, Lose/Lose for Rite-Aid for telling a half truth. 8-((

That's about all I've got for this past week.

Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods?  Let's hear all about them!

And have a good weekend!

Frugal Friday.....the February 11th Edition

So here are a few of the frugal-ish things that happened here this past week.......

*   No food waste so far. ;-)  We've got lots of leftovers this week to use up or repurpose.

*  We hit Ollie's(Good Stuff Cheap)on Saturday because I had a 15% coupon and bought this food...

*  I bought these items at Weis on Wednesday that qualified for Ibotta rebates.......

*  While at Walmart on Sunday I bought 2 boxes of clearance corn muffin mix for .25¢ each....

When I got home I realized they were out of date.  That's why so cheap.  But corn mix lasts well past the sell by date so no worries. 8-)

* I bought all this stuff on a trip to Walmart on Sunday and Rite-Aid on Saturday....

Spent no OOP and earned back $27.70 back in reg. rebates and bonuses.

*  I did about 4 Rite-Aid transactions this week utilizing BC, Catalinas and coupons but don't have any photos of it all yet.  It was a very small haul and some of it was today so won't appear until next week's FF post.

*  I got $10 back in on a R-A return.  The other half $9.48 was suppose to be credited back in Bonus Cash.

 Two days later I had to call Customer Service as it was still not back on my account.  Crossing my fingers it's back by Monday so I don't have to call them again ugh!

*   I found money!

A penny wedged beside the self-checkout machine at Walmart on Sunday.

Then  a dime under the counter at KFC.  And when I went to get in the car out in their parking lot another penny was laying there.

Then on a quick trip to Weis(PMITA)Markets I found this penny under the CS desk as I walked by..........

Then this nickel in the foyer when I returned my cart.

Total Found This Year......$2.06

Finally broke $2 almost midway through February. rah.

That's about all I've got for this week.

Frugal Friday.....the November 12th Edition on Sunday the 14th

 I apologize for being two days late with the FF post but you know....."life".  Been super busy hitting up Walmart and Rite-Aid late this week and attending the Bridal Shower for my daughter in-law to be.

Here are the frugal wins at Chez Sluggy for this past week.........

*  Free Covid Booster and sanitizer at RA on Monday.  My arm was sore a few days but not so bad.

*  Got $2 post coupon refund at RA.

*  Sissie paid for our dinner out on Friday.  Burrito del Mar is yummy and I swear that wooden primitively carved cowboy statue in the foyer, his belt buckle looked like a cod piece it was so HUGE!  Well, keep in mind I had a mixed beverage at dinner. lol

*  I used most of a free gift card at Ocean State for some items for Sissie, me and for a Xmas giftie.

*  I took Sissie out wherever she wanted to shop a week ago Saturday.  Along the way I made a stop at two CVS and Sissie and I snagged a bunch of .14¢ a roll Kleenex tp at CVS at one of them to donate to the food bank.

*  I found money!

Two cents at Rite-Aid on  Friday.

While taking Sissie shopping we snagged this very out of focus quarter from an abandoned inside the store cart at Aldi's. (BTW-Sissie, I dropped the other quarter into your purse in the hallway when you weren't looking so make sure it makes it back into "cat butt". ;-)

Then I spied a penny in one of the R-As we went into.

And then another penny in the second Ollie's we hit.

Total Found This Week...... .29¢
Total Found This Year.......$19.56

Other than having a fun day and a half with Sissie that's it from here for the week.(I'll reveal my Rite-Aid haul in another post since it spanned from Monday to Saturday.)

From the most interesting man in the world and me, what frugal wins did you have this past week or so?
Let us know!!

Frugal Friday...the June 4th Edition

 A few frugal wins from this past week........

*  We went to our favorite nursery last weekend and got a flat of assorted veggies and flowers. Hubs planted everything with my supervision as my knee and back are still wonky this week.  Not a big garden but a few favorites that the flat of plants will provide.

*  We didn't eat out and mostly ate down the freezer and leftovers from the Memorial Day cook-out.

*  And contrary to belief I didn't hit ANY grocery stores.....well, until today but my frugal week runs Friday to Thursday anyway so it goes on next week's report. ;-)

*  I watched some free movies with my Amazon Prime account.

*  I've been cleaning out stuff to get ready for my stockpile sale as my old body has allowed me to.

*  I grew a couple of my Rite-Aid accounts Bonus Cash.  I found a store near the nursery that had Sally Hansen nail polish on sale for $1.49 per bottle and it counted toward the SH polish deal this week When you buy 2/Get $4 in BC back.  After sales tax it grew my BC by .85¢ per 2 bottles purchased.

*  I found money!

On my big outing last Friday I found this Quarter tucked behind the self-checkout machine I was using.

Then I stopped in at my Rite-Aid on the way home and found this nickel in front of the register counter.

Total Found This Week... .30¢
Total Found This Year....$4.10

That's it for this week.

I hope y'all had some frugal wins too!
Tell us all about them. 8-)

And have a good Weekend....

Frugal Friday....the May 28th Edition on Saturday

Here are the few frugal wins from this past week.......

*  We picked a contractor to renovate our main bathroom and he started this past week, 3 weeks earlier than expected.  I forgot to take before photos but here are some in process ones......

This has always been a dreary looking bathroom as it's on the North side of the house.

Tan everything with an oak vanity. bleh.

That's the bottom of part of the tub.

And one of the bathtub surround walls(on it's side)sitting in the hallway after removal.

Here's where the mirror/cabinet will go.  He had to enlarge the hole in the wall for it....

Here's the new vanity/sink sans faucet in the room but not installed yet....

The new tub in place.  We are still waiting on the tub surround to come in as the tub and walls have to be finished before he can do the floor.

Everything leaving is out and everything going in is here except the tub surround. The new floor will really help this all come together.  And he should be finished by next Friday, I can't wait!

The reason I am calling this reno frugal is because his bid was was less than the others.  He's a one man operation and doesn't have to pay a big crew and his quote included the cost of all the "appliances" while the other quotes were at least $2K MORE plus we had to pay for the sink/toilet/tub/mirror/lights/etc. too!  The only thing we'll need to do after it's finished is paint the walls in there.  If this goes well and we are pleased with the work we'll have him redo the powder room downstairs too.  At this point we aren't in a big hurry to get it done so a one man operation works for us plus Hubs can lend a hand if needed.

*  We finally had to ditch our deck swing.  It lasted a long time but rust and weather finally made it unusable.  We found a new one to replace it at Wayfair.

It came earlier in the week and we got it put together.  Nice and cheery color!

* I ordered from Rite-Aid online on Sunday.  They were offering $15 Bonus Cash when you spent $50 plus there were a $10 off code on an online order this week.

This came to $48.76 in Bonus Cash after discount code and digital coupons used and I earned $45 back in new BC.  Of course I made a few trips to local Rite-Aids to roll more BC this week and utilize that Spend $40/Get $10 off Coupon.

* Hubs and I went out for lunch at Applebee's this week.  Used a gift card to pay and I've still got a little left on it for half of a free lunch. lol

* I found money!

Two whole cents for the week.........

A penny at my Rite-Aid.

And another penny at the Clueless Rite-Aid. lol

And that's about it for this past week.  Except for working on getting ready for a Stockpile Sale, hopefully next weekend if the weather cooperates. ;-)

What frugal wins did y'all have lately?!

Frugal Friday-the May 21st Edition

 A few things qualified for frugal this past week...............

*  I did some Rite-Aid transactions this past week but I haven't photographed any of them.  7 transactions were I spent $182.99(including tax)of Bonus Cash and earned back $155.00 in new BC so I spent down the BC by $27.99.  But this doesn't include the $8.60 in Ibotta rebates earned at R-A last week, and the 296 Fetch points earned as well.

*  I found money!

The only places I went this past week was 1 trip to Weis(PMITA)Markets and a few trips to my Rite-Aid.  I didn't write down what penny or pennies were found on which date but these were all found at Rite-Aid.

Found Change This Week... .06¢
Found Change This Year...$3.78

*  I found this item on sale at Weis(PMITA)Markets this past week...

Johnsonville Sausage Strips-looks like bacon and it IS still pork.
They were on sale for $4.99 per package and had $2 off Weis peelie Qs on them so $2.99.
Plus there was a tearpad of Qs next to the meat case for $1/1 from the manufacturer so I paid $1.99 each for 3 packages.  Has anyone tried these yet?  Let me know what you think.....
I also found BOGO Perdue thighs with $2 Weis peelies on them and Coho Salmon for $5.99 lb.  Nice!

*  Hubs and I worked the election polls.  I tell ya it sure is a loooong day and we get paid pennies but I feel like I perform an important job(my civic duty as it were)doing this.....even though the country's all going to hell in a handbasket no matter what, because well, "bread and circuses" as the Romans said.
Me, cynical?!?  Nah.  ;-)

That's about it from here this week.  Didn't go anywhere otherwise and I'm still trying to rest my knee after the Bataan Death March of Shopping. lolz

Tell me about your exciting Frugal Week!  I bet it' better than mine.

Frugal Friday on Saturday

 A fair amount of Frugal this past week.........

*  Many Rite-Aid Deals combining regular Bonus Cash Deals, sale prices, coupons and Spend $50/Get $15 BC back coupons.

*  I got two freebies last Friday at the Discount Grocery Outlet.  I took no photos but I can tell you it was a bag of some kind of "healthy" chips and a 4 pack of Bloody Mary mix.  I don't drink Bloody Mary's but I can just use those in spaghetti sauce or another sort of tomato based dish.

*  I took a rare trip to Target on Thursday and used a long ago paid for gift card to do the "Spend $50/Get a $10 Target gift card deal.
I found some meat deals--50% off a 1.5 lb. pack of stew beer and $1 off 1 lb. of ground beef.  "Spent" $58.96, "saved" $23.10 according to Target and really earned back $13.29 on Ibotta for some of the items I bought and got a $10 Target gift card. -)

*  I had a semi-annual dental check-up.  No cavities or problems, just x-rays and a cleaning.  I scored some toothpaste and mouthwash samples(as well as a couple of coupons good for a few months).

*  I went back to OSJL this past week to get more of those "Craveology" trail mix jars off the "Eat for Free" table but they were all gone!  So I picked up 2 bottle of Asian sauces and a box of pasta.  Total came to $7.97 but I used a Crazy Deal gift card to pay so Zero OOP.  Sorry no picture. 8-(

*  I found money!

Found these coins in various spots in Rite-Aid last Friday.

Found these two pennies by the front register on Saturday at Rite-Aid.

And found this dime on Tuesday near the pharmacy counter at Rite-Aid.
My Rite-Aid was a honey hole this past week.   I just wish I could find lost quarters too.  8-))

Total Found This Week.... .24¢
Total Found This Year.....$2.14

That's about it this week.........

What frugal wins did y'all have this past week?
Let us know!!
And have a peaceful Easter weekend,
