My Shopping Day

I lead such an exciting life--grocery shopping, Rite-Aid shopping, gas station, bank.
Rinse and repeat every week mostly.

After the snow passed this morning, I headed out under sunny yet cold skies.

I used $5 in +Up Rewards and paid .49¢ OOP.
I received back $4 in new +Ups($2 wyb2 Dove Men's, $2 Vaseline).
And the Catalina machine spit out another Vaseline Q.....

Can you say more free Vaseline? ;-)

$44.38 in products.

Then I went back inside and spent one of my 4 $10 oyno Cats......

4 x 8 o'clock coffee BOGOFree=$10.98
SubTotal........$20.95

When you buy 3 Gorton's items in 1 transaction you also get $2 Instant Discount, making my total $18.95 at this point.

November Food Spending Week 1, Meal Plan Week 2

Last week's meal plan is in the books.  Here is what actually happened....

SUNDAY--Chicken & Dumplings
MONDAY--Sloppy Joe on Rolls, Cauliflower
TUESDAY--Ravioli, Salad
WEDNESDAY--Sausage Sandwiches on rolls, Corn
THURSDAY--Chinese Take-Out
FRIDAY--leftovers & Crab Soup
SATURDAY--leftovers again

*The Crab Soup was a surprise treat Hubs brought home for me from a local Seafood Restaurant.  It is to die for!

Basically the meal plan was adhered to, except for the Pork Chops I had planned, which were put on this week's menu.

I spent...$56.79 at the grocery stores last week.

Since Weis wimped out of the $5 Cat Promotion that would give you FREE PUFFS(Hey Weis! YOU SUCK!!lol) after your initial $5 purchase I talked about HERE, I ended up rolling my $5 Cat Q with this on Saturday before the sales week ended....

4 x Bounty napkins on sale $2.50=$10.00 * we were out of napkins.
1 x Herbal Essence Conditioner on sale=$2.99 *for my man child son with the flowing locks of hair
SubTotal....$12.99

Coupons Used
2 x $1/2 Bounty ManuQ=$2.00
1 x $1/1 Herbal Essence item ManuQ=$1.00
1 x $5 OYNO Cat Q=$5.00
Coupon Total.....$8.00

$12.99-$8.00=$4.99+$.78tax=$5.77 OOP
And I received another $5 Cat Q for purchasing 5 qualifying P&G items

This week Weis Markets has a Campbell's/Swanson/Pepperidge Farms $5 OYNO Cat Deal when you purchase $15 of qualifying products.  Remember that the $15 is based on regular shelf price, not sales prices so between Qs and sale prices you don't actually have to purchase $15.
I'll probably buy some PF cornbread stuffing & chicken broth to use in my Turkey Day meal later this month and roll my Cat.

I also spent $10.27 on almost 3lbs. 93% ground beef that was marked down to $2.99lb. at Weis last week and some chicken meatballs that were on clearance.  The lean ground beef is up to $4.99lb. around here!
Ack!

My other food spending last week was at the local ShurSave affiliate grocer to up my total for that gift certificate deal.  Mostly it was some non-perishable goods, dairy, fresh produce, bottled water(a necessity around here in the winter)and a bit of frozen veggies.  This week is the last week of the program and I need to spend another $100 to qualify.  This store also have a special this week for .49¢ lb. turkeys when you spend $35.  So my $35 and the price of a 24lb or so turkey will get me almost $50 toward that $100 mark to also get my gift certificate.  Walnuts are on sale this week so I'll probably stock up on those as part of my other $50 that I need to spend.

I need to spend .18¢ more on selected baking items and I'll get a $10 gift certificate to spend at this store as well.  I just need to make room in the freezer first for the turkey before I go shopping there.

My savings percentage was only 42% last week, as the reg. retail was $97.88 on the groceries I brought home.

This week's menu.....
SUNDAY--Pork Chops, Cabbage, Sweet Potato Fries
MONDAY--Cheeseburgers, Green Beans
TUESDAY--Teriyaki Salmon w/ Veggie Fried Rice
WEDNESDAY--Noodle Casserole, some kind of veggie dish TBD
THURSDAY--Lasagna, Salad *Lasagna is in the freezer leftover from previous meal
FRIDAY--Chicken Quesadillas, Corn
SATURDAY--Leftovers

Items needed for this menu.....Salad Greens and the weekly ubiquitous milk purchase.  I'll probably go to the Bakery Outlet this week too as we are low on bread  products, as my last trip was 10/14.

At present, my November food spending stands at $56.79.  I plan on spending between $100-$150 this week.

How about you?  Any MUST HAVE deals where you are?

And do you see any good Turkey Deals?  There are no Free Turkey Deals to be had in this part of PA and we haven't had one in more than 3 years.....sigh

Weis Markets & Rite-Aid Redux....Much Less Stressful This Time!

Remember my little trips to Rite-Aid and Weis Markets on Tuesday?

Well I went back on Wednesday to both stores, hoping for some less stressful shopping.

First to Weis where I rolled my Nestle Catalina into dog food.  The Cat Deal on the dog food is spend $35, get $10 Cat Q....

1 x Dog Chow Kibble large bag=$10.99
10 x Alpo cans @3/$2 =$6.67
24 x Mighty Dog cans @ .55¢=$13.20
SubTotal....$30.86  **The reg. shelf price was $35.29**

Coupons Used
1 x $2/1 Purina Dog Chow IPQ from Purina website=$2.00
2 x $2/12 Mighty Dog cans(last Sunday's insert) ManuQ=$4.00
3 x $1/3 Alpo cans Peelie Qs from some of the cans=$3.00
1 x BOGO Alpo cans(last Sunday's insert)=$.79 *
1 x $8 Catalina Q from Nestle deal=$8.00
Coupon Total....$17.79

$30.86-$17.79=$13.07+ $1.86 tax=$14.93 OOP
And I received a $10 Catalina Q.
Without the Cat Q, it's a 67.30% savings.

*I realized after he rang up the Alpo Qs that I should have bought an eleventh can to use that BOGO Q...he had to force that one through.  I didn't figure it out until it was too late to make a scene over it. ;-)  Even though the Alpo cans were on sale for .67¢ each, the Q was coded to automatically take off the reg. shelf price, so that is why .79¢ came off instead.

I had planned to get 36 Mighty Dog and a diff. amount of Alpo cans and use ManuQs from last Sunday's paper, but when I got to the store cans of the Alpo had much better value of Peelie Qs on them so I changed things up to get a lower OOP total.

Then it was onward to Rite-Aid, this time WITH my +Ups.
Ugh.....I'm still sick over that. 8-P

Diggin' Out After the Snowicane....Rite-Aid and Weis and I'm not Done!

So after sitting home for 2 days while it snowed for 2 days straight, I just HAD to get out.  I had $17 in Weis Cats to spend before they expired Saturday night plus I was itchin' to go to Rite-Aid.

So after hubby took me out for lunch to our favorite cheapy-but-oh-so-yummy place, I hit Rite-Aid.

2 x Pert for Men Shampoo on clearance $1.99=$3.98**Even better deal than the reg. Pert on sale $2.50

$21.93-$19.00=$2.93+$.06 tax=$2.99 OOP Put on Prepaid Visa Card from P&G/Rite-Aid Deal

Qualified for $2 SCR(Finesse 'Poo).

I went looking for the Hershey's PIECES Candy Bags for $2.50 so I could use the rest of my $1/1 ManuQs but my local R.A. didn't receive them yet.
I might go out tonight and check a different store....

Then it was onward to Weis.  First I had to see if I was due a refund on 2 packages of OEP Taco Shells I bought 2 weeks ago in the Catalina Deal.  The ad had this size listed but it didn't ring up on sale or give me my $8 Cat(I got a $4 Cat instead for the lower threshold level of spending).  Took the shells, the ad and my receipt and had a pow-wow at CS and then with the Manager on Duty.  Manager said they should have been included so I got 1 package free(full refund of $2.29)and the other package I got the difference between what they rang up and what they were suppose to be priced at($1.04 diff.), so I got to keep both shells and paid $1.25 for both in the end after my $3.33 refund.  Not bad.  But I still didn't have my other $4 in Cats I should have gotten.....ugh.
So it was off to spend my $17 in Cats I did have + some other free item Qs and to see if the Gillette Deal was worth doing.

4 x Valio Real Goodness Lactose-Free Milk on sale $2=$8.00

Coupon Total....$47.78

$64.26-$47.78=$16.48+$1.38 tax=$17.86 OOP
$66.46 in Savings, Value of $84.32.... a Savings of 80%.

The Gillette Deal was worth doing.  With the Instant Store Savings and Coupons, plus when you spend $25 or more in a single transaction on eligible P&G items, you can send away for a $10 Prepaid Visa Card.  I spent $26.10 before discounts/coupons so I can send for the $10 Visa card.  In essence, that makes my OOP here $7.86!

And when I got home, in the mail waiting for me were $18 in Cats from Catalina Marketing!lol
The $8 I didn't get(the OEP shells snafu) and then a $10 one....must be from the broken Cat Machine Register at a different Weis I went to.  I hadn't expected that one!  I still had the $4 CatI got instead of the $8 2 weeks ago so I am ahead $4 at any rate.
The problem here....they mailed the Cats on 2/23 and they expire 2/27...TODAY!LOLOL
So I am jumping back in the car to go spend them tonight!
I sure wish I had gotten the mail BEFORE we went out today...I would have had NO OOP if I had them to spend earlier today.
Oh.
Well.

#2 son is lobbying for a cheesecake splurge.
Maybe I can do the Gillette Deal again(send that rebate to BIL)AND get a cheesecake..... ;-)
