Frugal wins are few and far between lately......
* I left the house for the 3rd time this year on Wednesday when we went to the wound care specialist. They had a machine that basically power washed my wound. I told them we could have just seet me on the hood of our car and run me through the car wash down the street for a lot less money! lol Nothing about that medical appointment was frugal but I did get good care and you can't put a price on health.
* At Walmart after the medical appointment I picked up 1 roll of Xmas wrapping paper at 90% off. Being housebound I've missed out on all the after Xmas sales. I gave away all my Xmas supplies before we left PA except for my container of gift tags nd some Xmas cards so I needed the paper for .49¢. 8-)
* The only take-out this week was on Wednesday. We celebrated my ambulatory state by going to a Chinese restaurant near Walmart for lunch. A worthwhile expense.
* I found money on Wednesday!
Since we were out and needed to pick up Rxs and I had the all clear to do some walking we went to Walmart. We were checking out next to a couple who stank of weed. I heard them drop some change(I have bat hearing when it comes to coins. lol)and after they left I figured they were too high to care about picking up the change they dropped so when we were finished at our self-checkout register I snagged some coinage!
Hubs picked another penny on the other side of their register(which I pointed out to him)but he won't give it to me so I can only count the 2 coins I picked up. 8-(
Total Found in last Week.... .06¢
Total Found this Year........06¢
That's about all I've got for this past week.
Any frugal wins in your neck of the woods? Let's hear all about them!

No, I had to get new tires, since I drive so much for work. I guess it is more frugal to have decent tires than have a blowout and crash so maybe a sort of win… lol. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteApparently two of them had debris from tornado in them so I just got all new tires to be on the safe side. They were worn anyway but two were absolutely trashed with debris stuck in them after Thursday’s Wizard of Oz day. Cindy in the South
DeleteYes!!!! You can’t put a price on health!!! No frugalness matters in the end of we aren’t healthy, agile and nimble! Go for it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sluggy, this is Chris. Thanks for the update about your leg. I am glad things are progressing and you can walk some now.
ReplyDeleteI was at walmart this morning and they had angus ground beef marked down to 1.90 a pound. I got all 3 three packages that were marked down.
ReplyDeleteIn your condition, he would not give you the penny. Shame on him.
ReplyDeleteMy goal this year is to treat my body better than DH treats cars, so keeping myself well fueled, exercised, and intervention when needed. I'm reading too many bloggers in early retire or well under my MILs age that unfortunately aren't enjoying their elder years. Much is just unfortunate luck, but for what can be managed I plan too. So that's where my frugal mind goes now - taking good care. I purchased ice cleats so I can safely walk more, and am going to do more scratch cooking. I think the scratch part will off set spending more on better ingredients. No money found this week.
ReplyDeleteI understand about the cost to health. I'm still working on the bills from the ER and hospital stay. I need to contact my claims specialist to discuss a few bills.
ReplyDeleteThere ain't nothing frugal around these parts. It's best not to buy things rather.
ReplyDeleteKroger is pushing pick up orders lately. I used $15, $10 and $10 digital coupons on the last order. Now I have $5 off and some free items for pickup only.

Sounds like you are on the mend, which is awesome! Great to hear. I found a penny on the ground at the soccer game, & always think of you & Kim. ;-)
ReplyDeleteMain frugal win: I deployed my bonus to planned savings (college, & investments). I did splurge & get a massage, but otherwise, all of the money went towards long term goals.
