I hope to get to Hawaii one day. It looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have several best trips. One was a trip to Niagara Falls. I went there every year for about seven years when we visited inlaws in Rochester, NY. I even went the year the falls were stopped for repair. I think I went in 1967 through 1974. I could be wrong about the dates. It was something magical I had read about and on my first trip north.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite trips were road trips to Pensacola, FL. We were young and broke so would drive there in a day and then find a cheap hotel for the week.

5 years ago my kids and I went to Amsterdam, London and Paris. Got to see some awesome stuff and lots of history. Went to the best seafood restaurant in Amsterdam. Would love to go back. So much left to see.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite trip was to New Hampshire. We have gone several times. I would live there if Hubby could work there. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy best trip was the last trip we took as a family before the kids moved out which was to Hawaii. The worst trip was my recent trip to Spain where I got covid on the 3rd day and spent 90% of the trip in a hotel room by myself :(
ReplyDeleteAgain, I forgot to add my name to the Hawaii/Spain post - Sue L.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite trip of all time was going to Niagra Falls! We went about 7 years ago in the winter. And let me say it was the most spectacular view of the falls! While it is very crowded in the summer the winter had some good crowds also. We went on a hike on the icy paths near the falls and we took the elevator down 167ft to the bottom of the falls and in the winter you can see behind them! It was exhilarating to say the least. Would I go again ? Absolutely... with out a doubt! We also saw the bird sanctuary there which was amazing to see so many birds! And we went to Seneca Falls Casino while there. I would say this was the trip of a life time for me! I look forward to going again soon!

The best trip I ever took was a Caribbean Cruise with our children and their spouses. The best part was the company.

Looks like another great giveaway, Sluggy.
ReplyDeletei love this question!, the best trip was probably to Florida this past February, we got to see some of my family and spend time with them, just talking and cooking and enjoying each other. it was two weeks long which is not typical for us, but working remote allowed us to do it.
ReplyDeleteMartha
One of my best trips was the last one to Boston. Not only did I get to see my friends but it was also my first time seeing whales. Super cool.
ReplyDeleteHawaii was fun until I cracked my tailbone a few days into the trip. My sister wanted me to pick some “fruit” from a tree behind a shave ice shop. I got the fruit (which was actually a seed pod for a weed) after climbing over boulders and brush piles. One pile didn’t hold on the way back and I crashed hard on a boulder.

Thanks for the contest, Sluggy.
ReplyDeleteWe’ve got 7 living in our home for now, and going from 2 to 7 has required some juggling.
My worst trip was my honeymoon. What made it so bad was that my husband was there, and I was verbally abused every hour of every day we were gone.
ReplyDeletetrips to remember, we loved Disney, i wouldnt do it again but it was super fun, expensive but worth it to us. there is something magical about it especially when kids are little. i am glad we did specially before all this covid craziness started.
ReplyDeletemartha
I think my best family trip was last summer. We had all four of my children spend the week with us at a lovely house on Week's Bay, right outside of Fairhope, AL. It was such a good week.
ReplyDeleteParasailing is my favorite vacation activity so anytime it’s been available I go. I could do that every day and never get tired of it.
ReplyDeleteJen G.
Second best trip was to Vermont. We went to the White Mountains. It was stunning! Very high altitude so I did get a little dizzy but it was worth the trip! We made our way through Vermont and stopped at the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream store where we took a tour of how their ice cream is made. And then we were able to develop our own flavor! So much fun! Then to the Teddy Bear Factory! Two adults in a kid store! lol Made a teddy bear and took their tour. Again, all kids except us! We laughed and got a few laughs! :) Then to the Magic Hat Brewing Co! Need I say more? A great place to visit but sadly has gone out of business. All in all my second fave vacation trip!

one of our favorites was probably New York, we loved it, very expensive trip but lots to do for free too!, so it was a balanced between expensive Broadway show and afternoon in Central Park!
ReplyDeleteMartha
A trip to Miami with my sister sucked. She reserved the car and an Airbnb that wasn’t in walking distance of anything. I was stuck in that apartment until about 5 pm when she was finally ready to go somewhere. My name wasn’t on the car so couldn’t drive it.
ReplyDeleteJen G.
My worse trip.. there are a few. First one would be to RI. Now this is very close to us but we always wanted to stay at a quaint little B & B so why not? Booked this place that was advertised as quaint, cute, spotless! And the pictures showed a wonderful place near all the things we wanted to do. Once we got there one look at it in person we knew this place was a scam! They even had good reviews. What was suppose to look like pretty flowers was tumble weeds that I don't think anyone trimmed or tended to in quite a while. Garbage cans all over the place and in the road and a paint job that looked like a kindergarten child did! I wasn't staying there but the hubby looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and said "what do we do now?" No refunds as we were on the day. Next best thing, walk around and see if anyone was in a bind and needed a room for the night! lol This took what seemed forever but low and behold a couple was stranded! Bought our room and we moved on from that place! Needless to say our trip was a ride to and from and back in our home for the night! :)

When i was young my family stayed on swan's island. It was a great place. I would like to go back there someday.
ReplyDeletei would love to hear somebody that has vacationed in Alaska!, i went there long time ago before being married and would love to take my family there, not sure how family friendly it would be
ReplyDeleteMartha
Kim(Out my Window)and our spouses went on an Alaskan cruise last August. It was glorious between the food, the scenery, the excursions and the company. There is so much to do/see there and even keep kids occupied. ;-)
Deletei need to look into cruises, August is kind of the date I had in mind! thank you for the tip!!

I am enjoying these comments so much!< i was thinking about my worst vacation and to be honest the one that keeps popping up is when i was in miami during 9/11, it was horrible, trapped in the airport/country for days surrounded by so much pain. We booked a hotel close to the airport and will go back and forth to find out if our flights were going to be available that day or not. I remember so many families sleeping on the floor of the airport. Since that day I always make it a point to have an emergency fund for my vacations. Never come back from vacation with empty pockets, you dont know when you would need some funds!

Virginia Beach was nice but the never ending air traffic was a bit much. We went in the fall so not very busy. The parasailing guys didn’t have any other customers so gave us a long boat ride for free. They were trying to follow a whale and we were happy to tag along.
ReplyDeleteJen G.
Another fun trip- my dad built a camper for the pickup and the family, 5 of us, drove cross country to California.
ReplyDeleteThe best trip we ever took was a spur of the moment trip to Branson when our kids were all young teenagers.
ReplyDeleteTaking a Greyhound bus from L.A. to Portland was not the best idea. There were some crazy/creepy guys and it smelled so bad when people would remove their shoes. But it was only $99 roundtrip so I actually did it twice. Never again after that last ride!
ReplyDeleteJen G.
Where I would like to visit... again! Disney. So dumb I know. But I've been there before marriage and before kids. So , now being married for 22 yrs the second time around I would love to take hubby and the grandchildren before they are to old. Epcot was so much fun! I just want them to experience it before they get to the teenager stage of life and tell me no. LOL
ReplyDeleteDisney World 2023!
Thank you!

Several years ago my mom, sister, aunt, and a few other extended family members took a trip to Lancaster, PA. We had such a good time. During the day we would visit the local sites and at night we played games/cards/chicken scratch in the main room of this wonderful B & B we stayed in. Such good fun memories.
ReplyDeletelast good vacation memory, Hilton Head, LOVELY place, very touristy but so much beautiful nature. Our days were all about eating, beach, pool, and repeat. it was lovely and everybody was soooo nice and welcomy, we loved it there!,
ReplyDeleteMartha
Wow... I almost missed this! My favorite trip so far was my graduation trip to Florida. My sister and I had a grand adventure to St Augustine and Cocoa Beach. Then I spent a week in Clearwater (where she lives) and explored local areas. The best part was reconnecting with my niece and BIL.
ReplyDeleteWe were incredibly lucky to take our kids four years ago to Europe, mostly the Paris area. We loved the change of pace, culture, and oh the food and wine, and beers. Likely the last vacation with my family as all are adults with lives of their own. This was a celebration of our 30th anniversary the previous fall.
ReplyDeleteBest trip was to Indian Beach, North Carolina. That area is my happy place! One that really stands out though is a few years pre-Covid when we went and saw sharks in the wild. That was awesome. Worst trip, had to be when I was younger and we went to Virginia Beach, and there were crowds, police helicopters, and crappy beach. Needless to say, my parents called around to where we typically went in North Carolina and were able to cobble together rooms for the rest of the week so we only stayed one night in VA. LOL
ReplyDeleteHope your move goes well. Glad it's not me. But I hope it goes smoothly
ReplyDeleteI’d like to return to the southeast coast someday. I can’t leave the diabetic cat though so will probably be several years in the future. Zima does not travel well.
ReplyDeleteJen G.
I'd like to visit Mackinac Island in Michigan.
ReplyDeleteBonnie
Another memorable trip was when I was a young wife, my Marine husband won a trip to San Francisco so we went even though we had a 1 year old and I was 8 months pregnant. It was a great trip, we had most everything paid for and we saw many things we didn’t have a clue about. I loved the tour ship ride under the Golden Gate and around Alcatraz, the street performers and I had my first chocolate covered strawberry. It was 1982 and those weren’t really a big thing back then
ReplyDeleteI want to go to Hawaii someday, but dislike traveling long distances by plane

I don't know if i have a favorite. Several good ones with my husband, the Outerbanks, and various National Park sites. i also go with my sister on "Old Broad" trips. We have a lot of fun on those. I went on an almost free trip to Mytle Beach a few years ago with a friend and her sons. That was a blast. I flew by myself and took my first Uber. I just like to travel.

One of the happiest trips was our first or second trip to Florida. Husband and children wanted to go to Fort Lauderdale! No way! I wanted to go to St. Augustine and we did for the history and beautiful city as well as the beach and ocean. Every evening we went to the same festival play in the park. It was so much fun when husband did not complain. The children loved it every night as there was gunfire in the play and actors running offstage and fighting. We took a bus tour of the city for the history and then walked a lot. We took a horse and buggy ride. The horse ran and scared me as I thought some of us might die as it ran through traffic and finally sort of crawled on a car. It turned out the horse was blind in one eye and could not see the car. We stayed on an island, not the mainland. We enjoyed the beach and ocean every day. We roamed a district full of arts and crafts like things. The children all got rings made from horseshoe nails. On the way back, we took a side trip to the Okefenoke Swamp and took a boat ride to see alligators. Now, I am glad we did not see any until we got out of the boat.
