Onward to June' s Food Spending report......
Here are my FOOD BUDGET spending totals for JUNE 2021.
I have posted June's totals on the Total Grocery Savings Page located HERE and have updated the Totals there.
I am listing subtotals for each store I purchased from in June. If you aren't interested in that much detail, just skip to the bottom for the Totals Sum. My spending includes Food, Toiletries/HBA, Cleaning Products, Paper Goods & tax where applicable. We are a family of 4(2-3 eating at home this month). No "kids" under 25. (I don't count all the "freebies" I get at the Discount Outlet in my totals either.)

THOUGHTS & COMMENTS for this month.....
I went into June without a firm $$ limit on grocery shopping and still stayed under $400. yeah me.
I also wanted to cut back on the rebating but failed to do so. I earned $310.34 back on Ibotta alone(not counting rebates earned on other apps and Target gift cards).
The monthly food spending savings percentage went DOWN by 2.0% in June 2021 to 83.83% compared to the May's 85.83% savings average. So a small increase but not too bad.
With 6 months accounted for, I have spent a Year-To-Date Total of $1,951.26 on food/toiletries in 2021.
2020 Yearly Grand Total Spent....................$1,951.26
2020 Yearly Grand Total Value of Items.....$10,788.06
The average per month amount spent is $325.21 in 2021 so far.
2020 Grand Total Saved...............................$8,836.80
2020 Yearly Savings Total.............................83.91%
The average per month amount spent is $325.21 in 2021 so far.
My Ibotta rebate total for the year so far is $1,482.49. Put that next to a full spending of $1,951.26 for the year so far and I've "actually" spent only $468.77 on food/toiletries for the year or an average of $78.13 per month. Plus I've been able to donate to the food bank and share my haul bounty with others.
I'd call that a win.
LOOKING AHEAD To July 2021...........
Again, I am going to attempt to cut back on the rebating. (Sluggy plans, God laughs!) I'll give it my best effort this month. I'll cross the $100 mark in earnings by this weekend but I am really going to slack off on rebating so we can eat down the supplies some more.
I am not giving myself a price limit for July but there is always that $400 mark in the back of my mind yelling at me. 8-)
If you have other ideas or guidelines you follow please leave a comment and share yours with us all.
* How much did you spend on food/toiletries in June?
* Do you track your yearly food spending? It's really not that hard or time consuming; just have your receipts and either track it in a notebook or on a spreadsheet.
* What was your savings percentage buying on sale and/or with coupons vs. buying at regular retail price last month, if you track that sort of thing?
* What are your methods for keeping your food spending in check?
Is anyone out there up for tracking expenditures and trying to spend less but still eat well?

Your Riteaid savings are amazing and Walmart too!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of a twelve step program for a money saving addiction, but we could start one for you....
ReplyDeleteHi! My name is Sluggy__and I 'm a rebater!
DeleteMy mouth's hanging open at your YTD Ibotta total. My total since joining Ibotta a few years ago, is just $600 more than that. Awesome job Sluggy!
ReplyDeleteWe track our spending, and attempt to keep it under control. We struggle in the summer, because our kids adore fruit & we buy a lot of it. I should start an orchard. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe spent $800 on food/toiletries in June, which is a smidge higher than average, but about what we've been averaging since we got back under control, post COVID. The adults typically get free lunch at work, but that's not happening, because we are working from home. Add that in with growing teen boys, and the cost of food rising, & I'd say we're doing "okay". Plenty of room for improvement. We do menu plan, avoid waste, & that type of thing.
I spent very little in June because I have so much in the freezer and pantry, plus those damn green beans keep on coming!
DeleteAmazing!
