Merry Christmas to All!

Here's my Buc-ee's ornament on my Charlie Brown Christmas tree.  He never made it onto our small tree last year so he made his debut this year.

While everyone has a wonderful Christmas Holiday with what and whomever fills you with joy please at least say a prayer or keep in mind the folks in Western North Carolina who are still suffering from the devastating flooding from Hurricane Helene that hit their area back in October.  I personally know that area and how cold those mountains get in the Winter and most of the people who live there are suffering greatly and will continue to go through a traumatic time as the season progresses.

If I lived closer I'd be taking all these toiletries and foodstuffs I get for cheap or free to them instead of the food bank here in Louisiana.

Nick Johnson, a youtuber who has documented this disaster and the government's lack of help, has two videos out recently.

Maybe think about donating to some organization or person on these videos inside of buying another Christmas present for a family member.  I'll be donating.

  1. Thank you for thinking about Western NC! Our family has had damage on our home, but nothing like the flood victims. The government has been less than helpful! But, many good Americans have helped the region. The people here are very self reliant. Paula

  3. Thank you for the reminder. I have readers in that area - and it all sounds so sad. I wish I were closer - so I could physically do something. I do what I can to help.
Merry Christmas to your home from mine!!!

  4. After surviving our tornado, it takes a long time to rebound, and FEMA and the like are not immediate help. And once they are help it really isn't a lot of help. I could tell you stories. Donate, and if you know a local charity, they are the most helpful. For us the Red Cross was the second best, even months after. But again, donate whatever you can.

  5. Daryl the dog has liver cancer. No stairs or jumping (could rupture the tumor) so I’m spending the day on his new floor bed. New bed is constructed of the cushions from two couches.

    1. I'm sorry to hear about Daryl. I hope he doesn't suffer and you can deal with what's coming. 8-(

  7. I went to Kroger today and bought him all the junk food treats that were previously denied. He’s on pain medication and enjoying some beggin strips and pupperonis.

  8. Tough holiday for me this year. I lost my husband in March after a sixty year marriage. My kids all had the influenza so couldn't come around me since I am a cancer survivor and have no immunity at age seventy-seven. Pretty tough holidays, but things will get better. I wish everyone a glorious new year
