Nothing to Say

I haven't been posting since I have little if anything to say.

I'm feeling low....just a generalized malaise I guess.  Nothing is going how I want it to go.  We are still trying to get our house ready to list.  2 more rooms to paint and 6 windows to replace.  Windows are proving hard to get ahold of in a timely manner.  The thought of moving is just feeling daunting to me but we have to get out of this 2 story house, the sooner the better.

Remember that Baltic States cruise I booked for 2023?  Well it got cancelled and I just don't feel like trying to book something else. sigh.

I want to go visit my Aunt and other folks up in MA and ME but my knees is bad again(I have to drive with my right leg) but my new primary doc doesn't do steroid shots in knees so I either had to find another doc or book into an ortho to schedule a knee replacement which will take months.  I am just feeling old and broken right now and my state of mind isn't good.

  6. I know you are down, I know it is daunting, but you've scared me. Please, trust me on this: Suck it up, and get into a one story A.S.A.P. I honestly don't know what I would have done had we been in the house before this one, (We moved here in 2019) when DH had his stroke in November. It's much better to move before you have to, or even if you never have to. Seriously, like you or dislike you, (though I think I like you), if I lived nearby I'd be spending my spare minutes packing your stuff. Our current new build is even more friendly to poor mobility, and I, too, have to suck it up and pack stuff up, because I think we will be ready to move in June. (I'd rather sit and respond to bloggers, though!) Honestly, with DH still a bit below par, the thought of the move (literally 5 acres behind this place) is daunting--imagine how much more so if I was under the gun. I couldn't even think about feeding myself, let alone planning a move, while he was hospitalized. DO IT!!! Trust me. Get up and DO IT. Wish I could help.

  7. In the St Louis Missouri area there are some orthopedic surgeons who will go ahead and do cortisone shots for peoplewith arthritis in their knees, maybe other states are the same way. Call afew surgeons offices and find out if they offer that service.

  8. Jre here. (I can’t get beyond the anonymous). I’m not sure where you’re planning on moving to but if that’s available or you can find what and where you need then I’m sorry but the slow progress of getting your current house ready could be actually costing you money in the long run plus your health. Hire the painting, get the windows if you can and if you can’t put it on the market anyway. (So what if the cost of window replacement need is reflected in the price). You’d have to pay for the windows and the misery of the installation anyway. Right now it’s a sellers market. With the change in the interest rate now you might have been able to sell it better six months ago. Who knows what’s in the future. Your mental and medical health is more important!! (I also have a miserable right knee and I’m starting down the rabbit hole of what to do for the pain and my reduced mobility, I feel for you.

  9. Sell the house as-is, You will still get a good price for it, I'm sure. Have you had a realtor come and give an appraisal yet? I agree with Meg B. Just do it. We love our little one story house. Life is a lot easier without stairs. Have you chosen where you want to relocate to yet? Moving is a daunting task. I don't know if he's still in business, but the guy we used in PA that got us to AL was fantastic. I think it was Best Darn Movers out of Kingston. The owner's name was Joel.

  10. It is so hard some days to get up and just function. Physical pain makes it even harder. You are so strong, I have faith you will get back on track and things will get better for you. I did get cortisone shots from my ortho surgeon when needed. But eventually I did have to get knee replacement in both knees. It was worth it. Hang in there.

  13. One of the smarter things I've ever done is to to the ortho for my knees

Double replacement at age 63.... life's so much better without the constant pain
