My birthday is in August and I always look forward to my favorite chocolate cake with white frosting! A friend of my mom always made my birthday cakes growing up and she even made the groom’s cake for my wedding. Her cakes were always my favorite part of my birthday!
ReplyDeleteWe once had 8 cats while living in rental that only allowed 3. Several were very similar looking but they were always in the windows. I always denied having extra cats or said I was cat sitting. The cover story worked for 3 years.
ReplyDeleteJen G.
I'm a February birthday, and my husband knows that my preferred dessert of choice is a cupcake. Top choice would be a white cupcake with chocolate frosting, but I'm flexible. The cupcake shop that is my top choice only opens up in a very limited way for COVID, so fingers crossed he gets in line early! :-)
ReplyDeleteAngel food cake is my favorite.. Happy birthday from another Jan baby I'm on the 18th
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I’m a January birthday too :-) Two weeks after Christmas, so I’m happy with a cake- I’m usually struggling to come up with birthday gift ideas for my hubby lol
ReplyDeleteMichelle F
My birthday month is March! I love me some cupcakes with real frosting, not that whipped crap) 😉. Something about me is I work full time at a college but also started a side hustle last year selling all size clothing last year online. It has gone gang busters and I love meeting all the new people ❤️ Tebble. tebblestearns@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is September 11. I will be 75 this next time.
ReplyDeleteWell being a Thanksgiving baby, you'd think I love pie over cake, but no. A super moist choclate cake with thick real frosting, with a cup of coffee is heaven.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy watching you do this; I suspect it is great fun for you .
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Sluggy! My birthday month is November. The best birthday was a surprise birthday party with about 50 people. The funny thing about it was that my friend made a mistake about the date of my birthday. The party was in August. I was really surprised.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how everyone got the date wrong. Oh well, it was fun!
Blue Ridge Mountain Girl/Paula
My birthday is July 15 and I'll be 63. Can't wait for Medicare so I don't spend a fortune on healthcare. Can't remember a favorite birthday gift.
ReplyDeleteBirthday is in September! Remember early BD - about 3 or 4 years of age. Favorite birthday dessert is probably chocolate lava cake. Thanks and belated Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHI! My name is Rose and this is my first time entering! How fun! My birthday is in July. It was always super hot when I was growing up so my mom would have a double party. My sisters birthday is in August and we had to share, always! But that meant double cake! chocolate for me and vanilla for my sis. One year I received a little porcelain cow for my birthday! He was adorable. Of course everything thought I was crazy because I cried when I got him. :) I am a little odd about odd gifts! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway fun! And Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday! I'm a June Girl, I always liked that my birthday was 6 months after Christmas. Spacing presents for the year. Kid thoughts!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful birthday - too bad you can't go out & celebrate....sigh. My birthday is in July but I don't have them anymore, so a moot point :). My favorite cake of all time is an ice box cake which no one seems to. have every heard of - you take very, very thin chocolate wafers, put whipped cream in between them and refrigerate until stiff. OMG!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Sluggy,
ReplyDeleteMy birthday month is August, I was a summer baby and I do really love summer.
My favorite birthday happened a few years ago when I had learned I had cancer. For my birthday my 10 year old granddaughter( with the help of her mom) planned a surprise birthday party for me, inviting all my family, fixing all the food, decorations, flowers and a spécial birthday cake. Three years later still have the decorations up.
Happy (early) Born Day to YOU!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is next month. Feb. 16th. I was supposed to be a valentines day baby as that was my due date. Mom went into labor on the 14th and didn't have me until the 16th! Poor mom. Back then they just let it go on and on and on. Thanks for hosting another awesome giveaway. Crystal H.
Nothing beats an Edgar's Italian Cream Cake for my birthday.
ReplyDeleteI had birthday parties sometimes but not yearly or even every other year. It was sporadic, but birthdays were really not a huge thing at our house other than having cake and ice cream and getting a couple of gifts. (small presents___real gifts were only given at Christmas)
Hi sluggy happy birthday 🎂 hope it's a good one.my favorite cake is not really a cake,my grandmother used to make the best Apple crumb you so good I'll be 64 on October 2, my favorite present was a cowgirl outfit i wore everyday till I outgrew it,lol well maybe not eve ryday

ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday my buddy I so wish I could be there with you.
ReplyDeleteChocolate, not milk chocolate, is always my choice for my birthday cake!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!!! My birthday month is coming up in March and I will be old enough to draw social security if I should so choose. I am planning on waiting another 3 years if the old body will hold out :)
ReplyDeleteI love german chocolate cake 🍰 Nuts, coconut, chocolate, why don't more people pick this?
ReplyDeleteOctober birthday. white cake with buttercream frosting.
ReplyDeleteMary G
Happy Birthday Sluggy! Here at our house you get birthday cake or pie for breakfast and you get to pick out the supper you would like that night.

I had a glitch posting yesterday and think it might have sent twice... hoping I have better luck today ( : Happy Birthday! I hope you can do something special. My favorite cake is a nut torte that has whipped cream and caramel between layers.

I was born at 13 minutes after midnight on Feb. 16th. My grandma always told me that was the witching hour. I was a "blue" baby when born. Take care.
ReplyDeleteGloomy weather today but it SHALL be nice on your birthday! Hoping I win the giveaway.
ReplyDeletesweetiesuzy@aol.com
I was born on April 4 at 4:38. My mother should have held out for 6 more minutes!
ReplyDeleteJen G.
My b'day is in April and the BEST birthday present I ever received is the love of my life - my husband surprised me by taking me to a Frank Sinatra concert and treated me to a lovely Italian dinner complete with singers serenading me to "what are you doing the rest of your life!" May your b'day be filled with love, life, laughter and happiness for now and always and in all ways!

Happy Birthday week!!!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is in August and I look forward to root beer floats...not much of a cake person :)
I had birthdays with my immediate family, but had only one party for friends....a "slumber" party on our enclosed porch. Because of that, we celebrated our four girls' birthdays in grand and very inexpensive ways. Always a family party with grandparents and aunts and uncles and later cousins. Always a friend party with their closest friends...usually a swim party (school pool or lake) and a sleepover (living room or tent in backyard.) There would be themes that the girls and I would work on for the month...homemade themed games/activities and crafts, themed food and cake. Always a pinata :) Our parties were never like anyone else's and done in a way we could afford, but they were so much fun!
My daughter works in a bakery and always makes me a scrappy almond torte piece of cake. Since being diabetic I can't eat a lot so she gets pieces of almond cake with a delicious cream icing and puts almonds on it. It is in a small clam shell and I share with my husband. aerodog@zbzoom.net
ReplyDeleteI cannot think of a favorite birthday gift since I have received so few. I can remember the worst, though. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite cake is homemade strawberry with strawberry icing.

My worst birthday was big #40. My now ex-husband ordered me a dozen dead roses and had them delivered to my office. The only flowers he ever sent me.... I am trusting that #62 in March will be much better :)
ReplyDeleteI always call or text my boys at exactly the time they were born. Lucky for me they were both born during the day. lol. One year I got a text from my youngest saying I had forgotten to text at his birthday time. He was living on the east coast that year and I was on the west coast. I told him nope it wasn't his birthday on the west coast yet and that was where he was born. We got a good laugh out of that. Take care.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday month is in June...looking forward to June and sunshine again.. its pretty dreary right now.
ReplyDeleteBonnie
I really like the smell of skunk spray and asparagus pee. You asked for random stuff!
ReplyDeleteJen G.
Hope you have a wonderful birthday. I always enjoy decorating cakes for first my boys - now my grandkids.
ReplyDeleteMary G
My birthday is in December
ReplyDeleteWendy
My favorite cake is chocolate with white butter cream frosting. None of that whipped foo-foo stuff for me! Probably won't have a cake this year as I doubt the family will make the trek from Atlanta for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping this year we might get to go to a real restaurant to celebrate my birthday. aerodog@zbzoom.net
ReplyDeleteMy husband flew my mom down for my 50th birthday. I pretty much only remember seeing her at the Eldorado Buffet (casino) where I live in Reno. I had open heart surgery a few months before and multiple complications had me in the hospital 6 weeks and totally out of it. So I was still in a fog and it felt like a dream. Also that year was our 10th wedding anniversary right before my birthday - don't remember that either. lol
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way to spend my birthday is traveling. My husband and I usually plan a getaway over my birthday week. Last year we didn't get to travel. Hoping for a nice trip in 2021.
Mountain Girl: Paula M.
One weird birthday present was a hot air ballon ride. It was too windy in April and every weekend for months so didn’t actually go until July.
ReplyDeleteJen G.
#62 coming up in March. It's kind of a big deal-I COULD retire if I had to and would have a source of income other than my 401(k). I have told myself that I have to work until I am 65 and then I can retire :) Would still be almost 2 years away from "full" retirement.
ReplyDeleteCostco cake is just about the best and the cheapest around. I'm a vanilla cake kind of girl :)
ReplyDeleteYeah! It's your birthday! Celebrate in style. Take care and thanks for doing these give aways and giving me something to look forward to - reading your blog. Ahh.... the life of a blog voyer.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! I hope you are enjoying your day ( : One way I enjoy celebrating my birthday is getting pizza from my favorite pizza spot.
ReplyDeleteBonnie
Beavis the feral cat ended up being a birthday present of sorts. He bit me while I was catching him so had to keep him. The animal shelter has to put them down if they’ve bit a human and we had to make sure he wasn’t rabid. It took him 11 years to warm up to me but now he’s the clingiest cat of all.

For about 20 years, I celebrated my birthday alone by choice. I would get up in a great mood, get dressed, eat something I really liked, and head out for the day. I visited antique stores, junk stores and talked to my friends who owned these. One year, I first had to get gas and told the guy who owned the station it was my birthday when he asked me about my day.
ReplyDeleteTHEN, he filled up the tank and would not take money. At the first shop, a gift shop, I told the woman the same thing and she gave me something. Well, that was a no-no. So, at every shop, I kept that to myself. At each shop, I would open the door to leave and tell the owner that today was my birthday and she was on my birthday tour. Every time, the friend would exhort me to wait for a gift. I just kept going and roared off.
I did this and enjoyed my day. One year a friend wanted to spend the day with me. Half way though and far from home, she announced she had a date with the guy she met the day before. I was furious, had to take her home and never finished by day by going about to shops. AND, the guy never showed up! That was not a good birthday tour for me. I continued for a few more years.
For all these birthdays, I had a great time. And, I did other things with friends.
Sluggy happy birthday.🍹🍹🍹. Hopefully next year your can celebrate your birthday 🎂🎂 like a queen. aerodog@zbzoom.net
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! You share birthdays with my grand niece-she's 4 today, and one of my BFF's.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Sluggy -- I have to wait for my birthday, it's not until September. I like Doritos probably more than birthday cake, so sometimes have cake -- and sometimes not.
ReplyDeleteA really great gift was Chanel No 5.
ReplyDeleteI am a May baby.
ReplyDeletesweetiesuzy@aol.com
Happy birthday!!! Celebrate big (what else is there to do during Covid?) :)
ReplyDeleteFor me, the best birthday gift would be a stay at home day in my pjs reading and watching movies snuggled up with a warm blanket in my recliner. Actually, I'll take one of those days anyday! :)
ReplyDeleteHere’s another random one. The video from yesterday reminded me of my Spice Girls days. A friend and I went to their concert in character. I was Ginger (dyed my hair and wore a Union Jack outfit) and he was Sporty. I still have my Spice watch but let my nieces have my Ginger doll. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
ReplyDeleteJen G.
Favorite cake would be a flourless chocolate torte with ganache (sp?) or a cheesecake. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My favorite cake is white or red velvet. Although I'm not picky and will pretty much eat any as long as it doesn't have coconut in it.
ReplyDeleteJessica P
My birthday is in June and though I am not trying to rush getting older, I can not wait because the snow will be gone and the warm weather will have arrived. I love a good, homemade vanilla cake with mocha icing but my family thinks I love ice cream cake. I always choose it because they all love it so much and since, wow, good birthday cakes have gotten so pricey we only have it for birthdays. I am on the master email list. Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
ReplyDeleteOn my birthday we always have DOC (Day of Crystal) My usual fun has been going someplace to eat that I got a birthday freebie for. Sometimes both lunch and dinner but the main thing for me is hitting every thrift store in Reno / Sparks. Of course if my B day were to fall on a Sunday a lot of the thrift stores are closed so I would pick the day before or after. My husband is my driver and my wish is his command. lol.
ReplyDeleteI moved to L.A. after graduating from college for no reason and with no plan. Boyfriend/now husband and I saved up a whole $1k each, loaded his with some stuff and my cat and took off with some Yahoo maps directions. We ended up in a weekly hotel in east L.A. since we didn’t know where we were.
