WooHoo! 🤗🎉🤗🎉

If you are friends with me on Facebook you saw my post last Friday on the 11th.

The sale of the house went through and we are no longer the owners of a house in Louisiana.
On Saturday the proceeds check arrived via Overnight Fedex and promptly got deposited into our bank Monday morning.

                    🤗🎉🤗🎉

All I can feel at this point is relief.........
* Relief that we don't have to pay to have the yard taken care of 9 months of the year.
* Relief that we don't have to pay for electric and water service because it's listed for sale.
* Relief that we no longer have to pay insurance on the thing....insurance which was WAY too much money due to being in LA and it being a manufactured home and not a stick built type.
* Relief that we no longer are getting bent over by the property taxes, because it's not our primary home so LA piles on the taxes for us out-of-staters.
* Relief that we no longer have to pay taxes on 50% of the rental income on this LA house to PA(when we rented it), even though we already had to pay taxes to LA for the very same income!  What a crock of shit!!!
* Relief that I no longer have to deal with real estate agents and some of their smarmy tactics.

It's done and I am over it now.

We have learned some valuable lessons with this whole episode.
And our Daughter owes us BIGTIME! lolz

My company's gone now so I'll try to get back to regular posting soon.  I've got to get out to pay a bill(car insurance)and run some errands today.

We had a hellacious rain/hail/tornadic windstorm come through here yesterday afternoon, after a day of muggy Summer temps and sun.  I am worn out from cleaning, cooking, entertaining and the atmospheric pressure. lolz
I've got to get back into a routine here.

What's going on in your world?

Sluggy

  1. Congratulations! That is wonderful your LA house sold! What a relief. We are selling our house in the City too and cannot wait to no longer be responsible for two houses!

  3. I am so happy for you because I know this has caused you so much stress and money. Owning property that is out of state is a pain.

  4. Hi Sluggy, this is Chris. So happy for you and Hubs that you are done with all of this. I wanted to let you know that yesterday I went and took our tax refund to pay on the principal of our mortgage. We are now 70.5% paid off. I am still on track to meet (or maybe beat) my goal. :D

  5. Congrats-what a relief. Will you have to pay capital gains on the sale come April 15th?

    1. No, we pretty much didn't realize any profit on this sale. I am just glad we didn't lose a bunch of money(though we could take a loss on the taxes if we had).

  10. Is there a synopsis of all of the drama with this house? I follow pretty regularly but think I missed some things. We just went through something somewhat similar in our family so I feel for you!

    1. Not sure if one would call it drama or not....Daughter needed a place to live that was reasonable as she was living with the parents of her boyfriend and they were always almost being evicted so we gave her the rest of her college money to get a place(since she had left school and had a career in retail by then). She left BF parents move in with them and bring along 11 cats(bad move!)then they wouldn't pay her any rent for 1.5 years. She got tired of her line of work and the BF parents but couldn't rightly kick them out(without alienating BF)and she decided to return to school so we bought the house from her so she had $ to go back to school. We inherited the BF's parents as renters for a year before we could get them to leave. Then we fixed up the house and sold it w/in a year of them leaving. End of story, never doing that again! lolz
