Frugal Friday.......the March 9th Edition

Let's see what we did frugal last week..........

*  Other than a birthday dinner out we'll eaten at home this week.

*  Here's the WAM I ended February with.

$140 leftover to add to March's $100 WAM.  I've spent $9 this month of my WAM......hard to spend it if you don't go anywhere, right? lolz

*  While we are out on Tuesday Hubs and I went to the Bread Outlet and got this........

3 x 12 packs of rolls(burger and dog), 3 x loaves of Arnold's bread and 2 x packs of Entemann's doughnuts(1 is already opened and in the kitchen).  All this set me back $9.  I pay cash at the Bread Outlet so it comes out of my WAM instead of being put on the credit card.
With all those rolls I'll be taking some of that bbq'ed pork I smoked in the Fall out of the freezer, whip up a batch of cole slaw and we'll have bbq on next week's menu.  Making your own bbq beats paying $10+ a plate for it at a restaurant.

*  I got free canned tomatoes at Weis(PMITA)Markets last week.

These were on sale for $1 a can last week and I used .50¢/1 Qs that doubled to $1 so free tomatoes....yay me!

*  I almost sold something on eBay.  A buyer offered me 1/3 less than I wanted, which I didn't take, then he offered me $20 less on an item I was selling for $150.  I took that offer.  10 minutes later he cancelled the order.  Thanks a lot moron!  So I had to relist the item and then go block his User ID from buying/bidding on any of my items ever again.  My blocked bidder list after all these years is quite long now. lol
Loser.
I have a love/hate relationship with eBay if you can't tell. lolz

*  I got nothing else.  Other than grocery shopping, Rite-Aid and taking College Boy out for his Birthday dinner last night I've been home bound, not doing much except paying bills and loving on Chester and the family.

Maybe I'll go clean something today and go find a sewing project to work on.......or maybe I won't. ;-)

What frugal wins have you had this past week?

  1. Wish I had a other freezer! I paid $.80 for a $2.68 loaf of bread at breadstore. I hate to not buy more and hate having to make the trip when I want bread even though one bread store is two miles and the other a mile beyond that.

That and free things in the mail which is up on my blog right now.

  2. I think you should just snuggle down with Chester and watch TV.

  3. You are singing my hubs menu tune with the pulled pork and coleslaw. He loves them both so much. Why does you WAM money have to buy groceries? I understand the cash part but do you get a credit later, lie $109 for April? We still are trying to figure out if we need a WAM fund or not. It might help some of my annoyances,

    1. I figure the bread outlet if I do it once a month(sometimes we don't need to hit it or the weather is bad)cost me $10 or less so I just use a piece o' the WAM. They do take credit cards(which is where I put all the other grocery spending)but I hate to put $4 or so on a c/c. I hardly spend my WAM so using it at the Bread outlet works for now.
I highly recommend each having their own splurge $$/WAM/etc.

    1. It has become very hit or miss at this bread outlet but there are deals.
Chester is definitely "my" dog.....a little too much sometimes. lolz

  5. Very nice deals. I especially love your bakery outlet pic. That's our main brand of bread to buy (it's Brownberry here). Sadly, our outlet is for a different brand. I haven't been to the outlet in years, but should make a trip there again. The downside is that I'll leave the place with a pile of muffins and other treats...lol

I normally buy my bread at Sams. I pay $5.29 for 2 loaves, compared to $4.29 for one loaf at Meijer (grocery store). Meijer's prices have gotten ridiculous. I do a lot more Walmart and Sams shopping these days.

    1. If I can't get to the bread outlet I wait until Weis has BOGO on the "good" bread and pair it with Qs(Weis lets you use 2 coupons on a BOGO deal)so that brings down the price quite a bit($1 a loaf or thereabouts-which is cheaper than equivalent brand at the bread outlet). My oldest likes that Dave' Killer bread and will pay for it....I just can't. lolz

  6. Extra $1k payment on the mortgage went through on the 7th. No other debt so I'll be completely free while still in my 40s.

We only eat out a few times a year, use my clothesline even in winter and have no plans to part with my 2006 car. Some may call me weird and cheap (I'm tweezer girl from a past giveaway) but don't care!

We paid off our house in 2007(bought it in 2000)so I got totally debt-free when I was 48. You'll love to air up here in debt-free land when you get here. ;-)

    1. The closest PF outlet to me is about an hour away in the tourist area. I see PF has closed down a lot of their outlets.

  8. We have a bread outlet about an hour away. I always stop there and load up for the freezer, only if we’re in town for something else. I don’t eat much bread but I love to make sourdough! I have some bubbling away.
    Chester is such a cutie!

  9. Our nearest bread outlet is 30 miles away. I WISH we had one closer. Last week, I attempted to track our grocery spending and eating out spending. It's a start!!

    Chester is adorable!

    1. With all the stores down where you are you'd think they'd have a closer bread store? Any restaurant supply stores down yonder?
Good on you for tracking! It's hard to know where to cut back if you don't know where it goes. ;-)

  10. Good deals on the bread outlet. I love going there for their good prices. Good deal on the tomatoes. We don't like those low ball offer on Ebay either, but do get them sometimes.

  11. Yeah on the free tomatoes. I am so jealous of your bread haul. We do not have outlets here. I will have to do a haul at the Entemanns outlet next time we go East.

So sorry you had such a bad experience on Ebay.

  13. Hi Sluggy, this is Chris. I love the picture of you and Chester. We don't have any bread outlets near us. After reading your post, I tried to check online and couldn't find any that weren't too far away to make the trip worth it.
