  1. I was thinking, "Wow, that's a lot of food!" I forgot there are five adults eating, three of them men. I would definitely have to replace my freezer that died!

  2. This is unrelated to today's post, but I was just wondering if you ever hear from "Udy with a J"?

    1. I stumbled across her new blog finallybecomingmeblog.wordpress.com. I didn't know it was her but as I started reading, I was thinking "this sounds like Judy in Philly with all the crockpots"! and it was!!

    2. Ah, thanks. The other day I was at a thrift store and saw one of those terra cotta baking dish thingies and that's what reminded me of her blog. And yes, the crockpots - whenever I pulled mine out during the winter I would think of her. Reading about her cooking marathons made me want to invite myself to her home to learn all I could from her about cooking, and if I remember correctly she may have taught frugal cooking as part of a 'life skills' class. I remember Sluggy started / hosted a fundraiser for her during a difficult time so that's why I figured she may know. Thanks! I'll take a look-see ...

  3. Hi Sluggy,

Just a thought, and it may not work for you and your family, but lately with just me and hubs at home we have been eating a lot of meatless meals. Especially in the heat of the summer, we like to eat a little lighter at night. And with our garden going like gangbusters its easiest to find recipes to use up the bounty, which naturally end up being vegetarian.

Its cheaper and healthier over all, but I completely get it if your family is like my oldest daughter who from the age of about 5 started calling herself a "meatetarian".
    Yours, DeeCee

  4. How do you have time to track it? I'm barely keeping my head above water.

  6. It's really cool that your daughter is taking on some of the meal prep, and to the extent that you are confident she will keep the guys fed, without tapping into more grocery money buying convenience foods. I think her moving back home may add some valuable life skills at an age she can appreciate them and put to good use once she is done with school and out on her own, or with BF again. You're a good lady Sluggy!
