This Week on the Dining Table

The "Well I'm Glad That Week is Over!" Edition..........

Boy, was last week a bad one for me.  Who would think an issue so small could knock me off my feet so completely!
I have turned the corner and am on the road to wellness again.....or at least my version of wellness. ;-)

Onward to the meal planning!

What was planned last week--

1.  Chinese Take-Out
2.  Salmon(in freezer), Yellow Squash Casserole
3.  Roast Chicken(in freezer), Carrots, Potatoes and Onions
4.  Tacos(leftovers)
5.  Pork Chops(in freezer), Collard greens(leftovers), squash apple pecan side dish(leftovers)
6.  Squash Ravioli, Sugar Snap Peas & Red Peppers
7.  Leftovers

And this is what actually happened--

1.  Chinese Take-Out
2.  Roast Chicken(in freezer), Carrots, Potatoes and Onions
3.  Leftovers(I had a can of soup
4.  Lone Star-steak out
5.  Leftovers
6.  Subway sandwich
7.  Salmon(in freezer), Yellow Squash Casserole

The plan went out the window midweek while I was indisposed.  We had a couple of meals out/take-out when I was sick or leftovers.  By Saturday I was well enough to cook again.

Last week I made 4 trips to 4 different markets and spent $91.48 on $150.57 worth of groceries and that was all done on Sunday as I wasn't up to shopping later in the week.
I also did 2 transactions at Rite-Aid(one last Sunday and one on Saturday)where I spent $.00 on $57.78 of items there for the week.
$142.53 spent for the month so far in November.

Going into this week, in leftovers we have........roast chicken, carrots and potatoes and squash casserole and a partial head of cabbage.

Here is the plan for this week.........

1.  Chicken Parmesan, Cabbage Saute
2.  Butternut Squash Ravioli, Tossed Salad
3.  Chicken and Dumplings
4.  Broccoli Soup
5.  Lasagna, Zuke Casserole
6.  Leftovers
7.  Leftovers

What I need to buy for this menu........whack biscuits, milk.
I still need to pick up some Turkey Day supplies and a turkey.

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?
Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten that week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?
How much did you spend on food so far in November?

  1. Can I just get $200 a week for grocery money? I would surely come in under budget then. I'm almost sick of trying!

  2. Does too much spent count as an answer. We have had weekend guests twice lately and it really does push the limits of the grocery budget. Right now I am about to quit worrying until after Christmas, since we are going to be doing more of the same throughout the whole holiday season. I think I have spent over 200 bucks already and it is not even halfway over. And that is just groceries not counting any holiday spending. Yikes!

  3. I have only spent about $50, but most of that was on boneless, skinless chicken breasts that were $1.38/lb. for one day. It is on my blog. This week, I will be making chicken and dressing from a Stove Top box and homemade chicken and dumplings. Yes, there will be vegetables--tomato and salad, green beans, sweet potatoes, etc. I cooked 26 lbs of the breasts and one hen in the same broth in the crock pot. Now, to freeze most of them..

Unless a great deal comes along, I will only be buying milk. I bought about 20 lbs of bananas at 29cents/lb to dehydrate--forgot that. Everything I bought was price-matched, even the milk and whipping cream. I saved from 36% to 88% on the individual items.

  4. Sluggy get on you tube and look up your condition, they have many people that seem to be able to treat it if it really flares badly. Having dealt with a chronic condition and the side effects like fissures in the bottom half (if you want to put it delicately) I know how painful this can be. Yikes just thinking about it makes me cringe.

  5. You would be shocked - appalled at what I spend on food. I really don't pay any attention, I buy it and enjoy it

  6. We didn't ever go to the grocery store last weekend, so we were WAY under budget. LOL! But I started my Thanksgiving dinner shopping this weekend.
