It's Almost Done....

One last post before my computer is put away and we finish and hit the road.

It's drizzling and we have to figure out how to get the mattress in the POD without it getting wet.

Hmmm.

The POD is full after the mattresses and we have more to throw into storage now.

I  won't be posting from the road but if you want to leave comments I can read and approve them from my phone.  I'd like to hear about your experiences moving house.

Til Later,

Sluggy

  2. We've lived here for 31 years, so I m trying to learn how to reduce in anticipation of a move in 5-6 years. My daughter's move was easy as she only moved a large apartment worth
She's also not the clutterbug her mother is.

  3. Hi, we moved a few times for my job. My husband would always say, “this is easy to pack” and then do nothing until two weeks before the move. I used to argue. Then decided just to start packing about two months beforehand. Then the day of the move, he would say, you see, you worried for nothing, this was easy! Argggh.. also learned to unpack the bed stuff, towels and kitchen first. Everything else can wait ;). Happy move! Hilogene in Az.

    1. Oh I think we were married to the same guy!!! We were moving from D.C. to Pittsburgh and my husband kept saying "oh, we've got time" and just sat there watching bloody Cheech and Chong full volume! I was on maternity leave but started packing as much as possible in between feeds and it was finally all done - though no thanks to him (we're divorced now as you might imagine). Our other moves have always been international so we had movers - bliss but expensive!

  4. Exciting. Hope you were able to downsize quite a bit. Do you have a new home purchased?

  6. My advice: check the front hall closet! I think we thought we were done; my sister-in-law opened the closet and it was full! I think I cried I was so tired...

  7. Since I recently complete an out-of-state move, label boxes that are essential so you know where they are, and place them last. Plastic mattress covers are critical, and make sure they are thick ones. And remember, take time to rest during the travel. Rome was not built in a day.

  8. Front hall closet--we had a hidey hole in the living room closet where we kept our sterling silver and his mother's sterling silver. We left it and the people who moved in sent it to us! Of course, it was my fault that it was not packed. Since he did nothing, I guess it was all my fault, being designated packer.

  10. Hi Sluggy, this is Chris. We made the big move 7 years ago. It is a stressful time. Give yourself a lot of grace. I will say a prayer for you as I think of you during this time.
