  17. We like spending as much time outside as we can....looong, cold winters here. Enjoy the trees with walks or car rides. Visiting apple orchards and pumpkin patches. Decorating for the season. The start of soup season! ...also clearing out stuff we don't need/want anymore and getting the kids to (finally!) take their stuff :)

  18. Just yesterday drove to Pennsylvania to pick up 4 bushels of apples for eating and canning. Also went to the gourd farm and picked an armful of sunflowers. My friend and I did this last year and now it's our fall tradition!

  19. You are such a sweetie to do these giveaways. This is leaf time at our house - oh so many leaves! We will be raking and bagging for months. And then there is one huge tree in the corner of 4 properties that holds on to all it's leaves until the other trees are done. Then dumps it's leaves and we start all over again. I just got my raspberries and rhubarb trimmed back for winter and a few more projects to do in the yard. Take care.

  20. When the kiddos were younger we would go to the pumpkin patch. They loved it and it was fun to watch them running around having fun.

  26. One of my favorite memories is when I was two. Mama would push my brother and I in a carriage down a rocky road to a persimmon tree. I loved persimmons and still do. The next year I was insulted that she made me walk so that my baby sister could ride with my younger brother as we went to the persimmon tree. I told my mother this memory when I was an older teen or young adult. She was stunned I could remember this because she said I was only two-years-old. That memory is thanks to my love of persimmons. I rarely find any nowadays, well, the old-fashioned kind, anyway.

  27. Rain, Rain, Rain! I used to live in Oregon in the Willamette Valley. I swear it rained so much up there! Fog too. When I moved here I would get so home sick when it would rain. Well today was supposed to be the only day out of a 4 day stretch that it didn't rain. Guess what? We have Rain! lol. Oh well things will get a good soaking. And as they say in Nevada - we can always use the rain. Take care.

  28. No heating or air conditioning for almost two months! I’ll probably have to cave on heat soon but the fireplace can make it warm enough for a while.

  34. Chains needed on parts of the passes between northern Nevada and California. Are we skipping Fall this year?
I need some nice fall days to put the garden to bed and finish up some outdoor projects. Fingers crossed that happens soon.

  35. One of my dangers of October today--asthma problems! Oh, goody. And, I had left my inhaler at home. I can remember falls where I could breathe with no fear. The one good thing about this--this was not a problem when I was younger and could stay outdoors without coughing. Memories are good.

  49. One year our little poodle Merlin snuck out on Halloween. A very large family with multiple adults and about 20 kids hit our house for trick or treat. Merlin was a brown color so when I opened the door for them he slipped out. About 5 minutes later the whole gang was back and I thought hey they have already been here. They yelled trick or treat and handed me our little Houdini. lol.

  50. We have been riding around looking at Halloween decorations in yards. Some displays only can be seen in the day since they are not lighted. Others show at night when they can be inflated. This is a fun activity for the next few nights.

  52. I used Halloween as an excuse to dye my hair midnight blue. It's semi-permanent so we'll see what they say at work when it takes time to fade. Maybe I'll dye it black and go goth for the winter.
