I went to the Bakery Outlet last week and loaded up on 3 loaves of good bread and 4 boxes of Entemann's Danish, buns and donuts(these are for Hubs and CB)for $8 total. Much better than paying regular retail at the grocery store, right?
So I get home from a trip to Weis(PMITA)Markets at 4:30pm and CB is flying out the door to get to work. (He got up a whole 1hr. and 15 minutes previous to that-at 3:15pm-so he was rushed. hahaha)
Anyway, I spy a box of cheese Danish buns on the table which has been opened...........
On closer inspection I spy this......
Seriously?!
You couldn't take 5 seconds to put the knife in the sink and walk the 2 feet to the trashcan to throw an empty box away?
Please tell me I am not the only one with a brain-dead(or worse yet, an inconsiderate)teenage boy......

So funny...definitely a teen thing. Although, my normally clean and tidy hubby often does midnight snack runs and leaves the wrappings all over the counter. Drives me bananas. I, however, am perfect :)
ReplyDeleteOf course you are......as am I! lol
DeleteThis brings me to a story, Sluggy. When I was a teenager, someone had left half a crumb coffeecake (Entemann's, I think) in the freezer, in the box (as pictured on your table, except there was half a cake there.)
ReplyDeleteI ate it.
The rest of the coffeecake, I mean.
Then I had to start thinking about how to deal with the aftermath. It was presumed to be saved for some other occasion, considering the status of "in the freezer." So I did something I considered ingenious: I bought another identical cake. Ate half of it. Placed the remaining half cake in the freezer *closely resembling the original half cake that I was not supposed to have eaten.* In fact, the goal was that the previous cake and the new, replaced one, would be identical to the untrained, unsuspecting eye.
To this day, I am sure I got away with this stunt, because no one said a word about it.
By the way, I find empty containers with a knife all the time here, too. Why do they put containers back in the fridge with nothing in them? The kids aren't as smart as I was at that age.
I suppose having to pay for a crumb cake was punishment enough for a teenager so you paid your dues on that one. lol
DeleteI saw something completely different and much worse. Somebody woke up and ate a bad breakfast. Not the way I'd like to start my workday. Did he eat the whole thing???
ReplyDeleteOn the other point, my hubs leaves messes like that all the time. Never closes a cabinet door either. Drives me nuts. I just shrug and pick up after him. Ugh.
Actually it was opened on Sunday and eaten late at night (or early morning)before bed.
DeleteWhen he gets up at 3pm his "breakfast" tends to be coffee and pizza or chicken strips or something else savory, not sweet.
Of course he'll follow this up with a soda or 2. bleh.
reminds me of the empty toilet roll sitting in the bathroom and no toilet roll on the dispenser..........
ReplyDeleteSo I see you've been in College Boy's bathroom too..... ;-)
DeleteGirls do it as well. When I remind her, I get "sorry-I forgot." How do you forget where a dirty dish goes, or where the garbage can is?
ReplyDeleteTeenage brain fog......it's universal it seems. ;-)
DeletePerfectly normal! He'll be 25 and wondering why no one wants to visit his apartment before he figures it out! HAHAHAHAHA
ReplyDeletePeace <3
Jay
HOPEFULLY he'll figure it out by 25.....but some days I doubt it will be that soon. ;l-)
DeleteDid you expect a different outcome?
ReplyDeleteI have HOPES that being away at school and growing up a bit more will give me a different outcome. We are just not there quite yet..... 8-)
DeleteDo you ever leave his mess for when he returns?
ReplyDeleteYes most times I do when it's cooking pans//pots and dishes. He will now unload the dishwasher without coaxing believe it or not! It's just the used stuff he has a problem with as he doesn't like to touch dirty things. I retorted to that, "Well, you have no problem touching a dirty toilet/bathroom at school, do you not?" lolz
DeleteMy youngest is on the other side of the teen years now (barely) and he loves to cook. The rules here say if you cook clean your stuff up, unfortunately, he seems to think clean up means put everything in the sink and walk away. If he actually cleaned I might miss him when he leaves Wednesday morning at dark o thirty. (Thank goodness for a job in the school admissions office this summer which requires him to be there)
ReplyDeleteCollege Boy has an evening/night job so many mornings I come down to a sea of dirty dishes. He is capable of cooking up vittles for himself(and usually a couple of friends who also take over our downstairs late at night)and they never even wake us up in the process. CB excels at quiet yet not at clean up so far. lol
DeleteLooks like my kids ate at your house! They do the same thing & it drives me batcrap crazy. I found I have to put the entemans outlet stuff in the fridge or it gets moldy on the counter in a day or 2 - even if it's a few days until it's stamped date. Their delivery trucks aren't air conditioned
ReplyDeleteI Find it depends on the weather here how long until I have to refrigerate the stuff. High humidity does do a number on their products.
DeleteWhere is there an entemanns outlet in CT?
DeleteMy hubby and kids (11&12) like to leave dirty dishes on the countertop above the dishwasher-how hard is it to open it up and stick the stuff in? Appearantly too much for them! I do have to say my daughter is worse than my son. She will move things that I tell her to put away, or throw away, from one counter to the other. It drives me insane!
ReplyDeleteI hate to inform you but at 11 & 12 years old, your kids have just begun to drive you insane. lol
DeleteYou have my sympathy.....
Our 22 yo DD and my 70+ dad do all of the above and more at our place. I love them both, but they both do things that drive me crazy. I am sure I drive them crazy too.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is when a certain someone puts the EMPTY cereal boxes BACK!!!!
