Where Were You When the World Changed?

In September of 2001 I was 42 years old and living in Pennsylvania when this happened....

The World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York City

In December of 1955 I was 4 years away from being born when this happened....

Rosa Parks arrested in Montgomery , Alabama

In July/August of 1917 I was 42 years away from being born when this happened.....

Women suffragists arrested for picketing the White House, Washington, DC

And in June of 1969 I was 10 years old and living in Virginia when this happened.....

The first newspaper photograph(by Joseph Ambrosini) published in the Daily News, of the Stonewall Riot in Greenwich Village, NYC

All these events are Watershed Moments in our country that fundamentally changed us as a Nation.

Keep fighting the good fight all you warriors!

  1. Sept 11, 2001--I was awakened by my daughter from NYC, thinking she called to wish me happy birthday. She was screaming so that I did not know who it was. I asked five time who it was.

1955--nine-years-old and horrified at the events.

1917--four years before my mother was born.

June 1969--finished three years of college, was married for three years, and had a baby. I was terrified.

It is hard to forget whether I was there or not.

In 1920, when women won the right to vote, only one woman, a glove maker, in the original fight was there to see the success of their venture.

  2. 9/11/2001. I was 22 and living in Fargo, waiting tables. I turned on the TV between the two airplanes hitting. At first I thought it was a big joke. So scary.
