Are You Ready for Some Rite-Aid?......Non-Super Bowl Sunday

I have no love for football so I don't watch the Super Bowl.
Yes, I am so UN-American, aren't I?

Instead, I take advantage of everyone else being glued to the TV to go to Rite-Aid.lol

I received $8 +Up Rewards back(2 x $1 Welch's, $1 wyb 2Coffee, $5 wyb 2Finesse).

I only bought 1 Fritos.  Sometimes the scanner wand is sensitive and as they bag stuff too close to the scanner it scans again and me nor the cashier didn't catch it this time, so I had to go back in to get $2 back.  So I 'converted' $2 in +Ups to cash on that. ;-)

The Rite-Aid coffee is ringing up $1.99, so after coupons and $1+Up it's better than free!  Not sure how long that will last however....

I received $17 in +Up Rewards($5 wyb2 Finesse, $4 BioTrue, 2 x $2 wyb2 BC, 4 x $1 on select food items-bc items I bought).
I also qualified for $18.99 in SCRebates($8 Oscillococcinum, $6.99 childs Coldcalm, $4 child's Chestal).

So all totaled, I spent/rolled $43.98 in +Ups, got $25 in +Ups back and converted $20.99 of +Ups into cash(via SCRs and return/refund of phantom item I paid for).
$45.99(scrs/+ups got)-$43.98(+ups spent) means I had a $2.01 moneymaker when all is said and done.

I am down to my last .62¢ on my gift card.  But don't worry about me.....I have another $5 gift card at the ready. 8-)

  1. Good for you! Take advantage of the empty stores and save some (all) cash!!! I'm not into sports either. Went to a movie instead!

  2. Thanks for the answer to the coffee question! Another fantastic haul, and no, I don't think your tendency to stay away from the SuperBowl is un-American; I think there are a lot of people who see it as an opportunity to get other things accomplished :)

  3. how is your tax so low??? We are charged tax before coupons. But even the total after coupons I would think your tax would be much more than $0.04 ... all I can think is that you are not taxed on anything "essential" ... foods, clothing, meds etc... but still $0.04 ??? I cant figure it out and its really bothering me. Not to mention I am completely jealous! We pay 7% tax on everything EXCEPT prescription drugs. Everything else is taxed. absolutely everything. :(

  5. Seymour6--Being in PA, we are not taxed on meds, food, clothing and maybe a few other things I am forgetting right now. Our sales tax on the taxed stuff is 6%.
I'm not sure be most times we are only taxed at Rite-Aid here on the cost AFTER coupons and +Ups.
I've seen the tax come down as they scan the Qs and +Ups in so I guess that's how they handle it.

Don't be jealous of us tho....hate the people in NH and DE were there is NO sales tax.....sigh

Sales tax rates are just one item we have an eye on as we look to retire to a state where it will be less costly to live. We've got a few years to research the difference between COLs between possible states we are considering. I wish I could mix and match things like property taxes, food costs, sales tax rates, personal property tax rates, gasoline taxes, tax on pensions and social security income, etc. and make a state where it would be the least expensive....wouldn't that be nice?lol

  6. I'm sorry to say I watched the super bowl. We are house sitting for friend's of ours so we watched it at their house. Couldn't watch it here cuz we still don't have satellite.

  7. Well people think since MS is the poorest state, it is the cheapest... NOT SO! So very expensive to live here. Taxes and insurance alone have doubled since Katrina... well on the coast (where I live) and you would think since we have casinos down here there wouldnt be taxes or at least lower... wrong. I am thinking of moving to Mexico in 50 years when I will actually be able to afford to retire LOL
