Years ago, when I first became a stepmom, I went looking for information on line and ended up joining an email "loop" of 6 or 7. That was before facebook and a lot of message boards. LOL! So we had a loop that we emailed back and forth including everyone. Two of us were going to fly to meet a 3rd member or our loop. I was scheduled to fly there a day or two after 9/11....yes, THAT 9/11. My flight was cancelled as were many others. But I did go as soon as a flight would go. The other lady that was supposed to go, decided not to, but I still went. The plane was almost half empty. My friend nad I had a wonderful visit and she was exactly like I thought she would be.Franceshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01817017829323955078noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1611711622146875201.post-53396175047728410332013-07-31T19:21:18.270-04:002013-07-31T19:21:18.270-04:00Am I the only one that started singing "I wis...Am I the only one that started singing "I wish I had Jesse's girl"? Yeah? Oh, ok. Never mind.

Yes and yes. My two best friends ever and my half brother were all met online. I had known my half brother for over 7 years before I met him in person when he came to this shore from CA for pre-med school. Physically, I had seen him and we had chatted on cam maybe once or twice. For the non-physical aspects, he is indeed a bit of a jerk and I tell him that. Somehow he takes great pride on it, but we still get along just the same. More like real siblings, if you ask me. The other one (my friend in Chicago and moving force for change) I had known for 3 years before I went to Chicago to meet him. He was a lot taller than I was expecting, but we felt at ease right away. His wife was a lot shorter, though, and much more funny than she was online. It's more like we've always been friend, just living separately.

I can't say meeting in person changed a lot, really. It did make me wish my half brother would go somewhere before I tie him to railroad tracks (I love him. I really do!), and made me miss my Chicago friends horribly every time I had to leave, but things just became easier to talk at a local level. Last best friend I've known now for almost 5 years, and though he's in China, he's from FL and supposedly coming to the states next year. Can't wait! (Though wifey doesn't like me a whole lot).

Sorry for overly long post. I love the topic. Can you tell?
