I remember one time there was a fire and the electricity went down. We had just finished paying for groceries and were walking away from the stores and the police stopped us to inspect and make sure we hadn't stolen anything (we had receipts and cash on hand too--my mother, my older brother and younger sister).

That Walmart story... yeah. Sure, the "little guy" gets a chance when a situation like this EBT card thing happens to get something for nothing but every legislator(state and federal)are to blame for the mess we are in now. They spend their lives/careers milking the system into their own pockets and into the pockets of their cronies(the heads of big corporations)and family members(nepotism anyone?).
I am just tired of helping all those people out there who misbehave when they have money and then expect us who have been careful w/ours to bail them out time and time again.
Ok, stick a fork in me, I am done!lol Off to go unroll the carpet, while sitting in a chair, in my purty new room....slugmamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12728856166374248591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1611711622146875201.post-47149297740345287202013-10-15T14:39:38.145-04:002013-10-15T14:39:38.145-04:00Those people with 8 grocery carts potentially had ...Those people with 8 grocery carts potentially had $1600 worth of food, depending on what they bought. They did not worry about where to store it because they were selling it cheaply or feeding relatives.

They were stealing but with assurance there would be no repercussion to them personally. The government program knows who got what, but increasingly the government permits dishonesty when it is easier to let it go than face a riot, especially when taxpayers can foot the bill.

Unfortunately, those who took advantage of the no-limit EBT cards actually do think they are self-reliant by using their cunning to take care of themselves. It is perverted, but true, I believe.

Somehow, I imagine that those who save and trust banks to give them back their money may be surprised one day. Look at what happened in Greece.

Moral compass? The people touting a "moral compass" don't have one or it broke. Government officials who want charity out of the hands of the government are the ones who are actually receiving their own welfare plans called by different names--tax breaks, for one.

I think the damage from Saturday is more than the food lost. The damage comes in the form of people seeing just how far they can push the system. They will have no fear of repercussions.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14991571309786149363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1611711622146875201.post-74156863593021337502013-10-15T14:37:49.864-04:002013-10-15T14:37:49.864-04:00Its funny two co workers who know nothing about my...Its funny two co workers who know nothing about my life except that my husband died told me how stupid I was for not applying for welfare. Now I know all of you pitched it to help me catch up on everything and I am eternally grateful but I couldn't get them to understand that I shop for food wisely and don't need food stamps. I work, I am getting back on my feet. Why would I apply for something that I do not need? But both of these women work, are married to husbands who work and get benefits. Im not sure how..but they do. The problem as I see it is who is worse the politicians or the people milking the system. Both, I guess. And who gets to pick up the slack? Yup, us. I try so hard to live within my means and yet I see so many that don't even try. When I get to this point, I just stay away from the news and do something that brightens my spirits.
