It's more like a Kraft sliced cheese but NOT a cheese 'food'. It's an american type cheese you get sliced at the deli counter but it has a sharpeness of cheddar, but it has more moisture than a reg. cheddar which is more aged and a hard cheese. Hoffman's is another brand that is similar--an american sliced cheese with a cheddar bite. HTH!slugmamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12728856166374248591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1611711622146875201.post-88154186251170169612010-06-03T14:12:45.654-04:002010-06-03T14:12:45.654-04:00Hmmm...I just realized that we have several restau...Hmmm...I just realized that we have several restaurant supplies in the area. I might have to check them out. We use a LOT of shredded cheese at my house. Of course, I always stock up on sale, but I am always happy to find it cheaper.

(And I think I read a version of this post already. You guest posted it somewhere, right? I used to go to one when we lived in CA. I have one of those cheapy slicers with the yellow plastic roller on it so I buy the presliced cheese in bulk at Sam's or Costco. Kevin and the girls eat lots of cheese so I usually run out before I plan a trip to one of those stores. If I think it is going to go bad soon, I make some casseroles or other dishes with it--or freeze it to use in cooking.Sheilahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02813022311330177395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1611711622146875201.post-53631980723480933242010-06-03T10:52:49.888-04:002010-06-03T10:52:49.888-04:00We don't eat a lot of sliced cheese around her...We don't eat a lot of sliced cheese around here, but I do the same thing with meats, especially ham, but also for deli meats and home cooked roasts or turkey breasts. I bought a Rival electric slicer (at a garage sale, of course) for $10 I think, almost 10 years ago. I also use it for homemade bread and I've even used it for potatoes once or twice.

On a similar note, I've bought large bricks of cheese at the warehouse club and shredded it myself using my food processor. Although shredded cheese is often the same price as chunk cheese these days, if you don't mind the cornstarch or whatever it is they dust it with to keep it from sticking together.Annie Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07123644833186800503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1611711622146875201.post-41582562694387139232010-06-03T10:42:50.006-04:002010-06-03T10:42:50.006-04:00I have never seen that cheese before. Is it different in flavor or texture or what?

But let me tell you something, that wire cheese slicer you got there? Those things are awesome! A W E S O M E !! And truly, the best way to cut through sticky cheeses like Velveeta.

Give me some scoop on this cheese. Is is local?
