This Week on the Dining Table

The "I Still Find This Drink Cup Funny" Edition................


Once or twice a year Hubs and I stop at a KFC for lunch when we are in this town.  We went down there on Saturday.  I doubt Harland Sanders ever said this but it tickles my funny bone every year I get a Diet Pepsi there. lolz

Moving On....
Onward to the meal planning!

This is what was planned--
1. Sunday--Turkey Day Leftovers
2. Monday--Flounder, Veggie TBD, Sweet Potato Fries
3. Tuesday--Turkey Casserole(using some leftovers)
4. Wednesday--Beef Bourguignon
5. Thursday--French Onion Soup
6. Friday--Cheeseburgers, Salad
7. Saturday--More Leftovers?

And this is what actually happened--
1. Sunday--Turkey Day Leftovers
2. Monday--Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches, Leftover Carrots
3. Tuesday--Flounder, Cole Slaw
4. Wednesday--Beef Bourguignon
5. Thursday--Leftovers
6. Friday--Turkey Casserole(made w/leftovers)
7. Saturday--Leftovers

Last week saw 4 nights of home cooked dinners, 3 nights of leftovers/ffy, and 0 nights of Eating Out/Take-Out. 
No French Onion Soup or Cheeseburgers happened(I did have a burger for lunch one day though). We had Pork Tenderloin sammiches and more Leftovers instead.

What got put into the freezer last week.....
* a London Broil
* 1.52 lbs. Breakfast Sausages
* 3 packages of Frozen Veggies
* 2 bags of shredded Cheese
* 6 lbs. of Butter
* Excess Stuffing from Turkey day

What got taken out of the freezer and used.....
  1 lb. of flounder
*  2 lbs. of round steak
*  4 pork tenderloins

One trip to Weis plus trips to Aldi, Malacari's produce and Maines restaurant supply from the end of November brought the current weekly spending to $78.71 and my December spending on food to $78.71.

My savings percentage last week was 45.00%(without Rite-Aid trips)and December's monthly savings total comes in at 45.00%(w/out R-A).

I have 22 more food shopping/spending days in December.

Leftovers going into this week.....turkey casserole, cornbread, flounder, cole slaw, pork tenderloins and beef stew. 

Here is this week's "food plan".....
1. Sunday--Meatloaf, Corn
2. Monday--Chicken Parm, Spaghetti, Salad
3. Tuesday--Kielbasa Sandwiches, Beans
4. Wednesday--Ravioli, Salad
5. Thursday--Chicken Piccata, Baked Potato, Brussels Sprouts
6. Friday--Salmon, Mushroom Risotto, Roasted Carrots
7. Saturday--Leftovers

As always this menu is subject to change or rearranging depending on what leftovers get eaten or not and what I am feeling like cooking(or not). lolz

What needs buying for this menu?  Salad Greens and Hoagie Rolls.

  1. Last week was so busy meals were what I could throw together quickly. Pork chops in mushroom gravy, philly cheesesteak casserole that I made one morning and baked that evening, made a big pot of baked potato soup one evening,baked chicken another and leftovers rest of nights. Hope this week is not so rushed

  2. I'm still not in a planning sort of mood, so we will eat what comes out of the freezer or pantry. I did do a trader Joe's stop and got the yummy tomatoes red pepper soup. that with grilled cheese will be one night, frozen pizza another, and frozen Chinese another.

  4. I have a friend who had the best gravy....turns out she used to buy big containers of KFC gravy, put them in her own container and take them with mashed potatoes to pot lucks - she finally fessed up one night after too much wine
