So Over Winter

February and March have kicked my ass health wise and I am so over Winter.

First it was Bronchitis and a Sinus Infection.
A round of steroids for the Bronchitis meant a 10 pound weight gain too. sigh
Then the antibiotics didn't knock the sinus infection out and it spread to my ear so even more antibiotics and I seemed to still be fighting a sinus infection into early March.
Then I fell on the ice mid March and got a still healing elbow "boo-boo", a banged up knee, a bruised chest and a painful shoulder and collar bone.

On the Sunday morning before last the sun was trying to come out and then it started snowing......and it got worse and worse.  The ski got dark and it turned into a full on snowstorm.  Ok maybe just a snow squall which is a mini localized blizzard.
The snow was accumulating and got to about 2 inches and then stopped and the sun came out strongly and by noon most of it had melted so I did finally get up to Rite-Aid that day. sigh

I finally relented and saw my primary doc March 26th since I was still in pain from the fall after almost 2 weeks.  He had x-rays taken and thankfully I don't have a break or a fracture in any bones in those areas but the muscles are still healing which is accounting for the pain in my arm, shoulder and neck.  The only thing I can do is take Naproxen or other anti-inflammatories and rest the area/appendage.
So Monday night after my doctor appointment I was eating the dinner Hubs made and a piece of a tooth fell out of my head.
Ugh.
Luckily I had a dental cleaning scheduled the following day so I got the tooth looked at.
Now I've got a sharp edge on that tooth that's snagging the underside of my tongue and the dentist can't fix my tooth until April 10th so it hurts to talk/move my tongue.

Then my doctor contacted me and even though my x-rays showed no broken bones it did show I have quite a bit of arthritis in my neck and left shoulder.
Sigh.

And then we got 4 inches on Monday, April 2nd.
No wonder I'm in a bad mood.
The warm weather can't get here soon enough for me!

I decree nothing bad can happen for at least a week now in Sluggyland.
Too bad I can't control the universe like that.......lolz

  1. Hi Sluggy, this is Chris. I hear you, I am over winter also. You have had a hard winter, health wise. I am so glad you went in to have an xray from when you fell. Glad nothing broken, but sorry about the arthritis.

  2. Hi Sluggy,

I hope you feel better soon. I SO AGREE with you! I am done with winter! However we have 60 mile an hour winds here today supposedly bringing in a warm front. Let's hope!

  4. It sounds like you are living my life. I have had "bruised bones" according to the doctor when I fall and whack something. I also had a tooth with sharp place and that is excruciating. We did not have snow, thank goodness! We like it chunkier in hail form. When you have that power, tell me how to get it.

  5. Perhaps you and your hubby and chester should think about a month or two somewhere hot next winter! Or permanently....snow sucks. I don't miss it at all. I hope you feel better soon. Don't you just love it when the Dr tells you something you already know...like arthritis? Glad nothing is broken though

  11. Sorry to hear of your health problems. I fell right before Thanksgiving and crashed into a shelf. No broken ribs, but it hurt and took several weeks to feel better. Then I tripped going out to the balcony and hit my head and shoulders. Again, took several weeks to feel better. Give it time. A good reason not to do too much housecleaning or cooking! I really enjoy your blog and hope you can ignore the nasty comments. Teddie

  12. These are the times you want to just stay in bed and pull the covers up over your head!!! This year has not started out great for a NUMBER of people (myself included) so lets hope the next 3 quarters of the year are FABULOUS!!!!!

Hope the pain subsides soon, there is nothing worse than just hurting!!!!

  13. I certainly feel for you! I haven’t fallen (knock wood!) or lost a piece of tooth (knock wood!) but I have gotten a crap load of snow. Yah, i’m over it, too. Tomorrow’s another day.....

  14. Oh Sluggie what a winter you've had! What the heck did Hubs make for dinner??? Yikes! I hate when I have a nicked tooth as my tongue wants to poke at it constantly. It can only be up from here (I hope)!! Our weather sucks too - had snow yesterday but most (not all) has melted. Nothing good in the forecast either - more and more cold days and nights! Yuck!

  15. I'm sorry you are having a rough winter. I feel your pain with the sinus infection. I also had one and it wouldn't go away so I got antibiotics and steroids which led to a lovely yeast infection so I am dealing with that. I can't wait for nice weather and start working in the yard. I know I will hurt at the beginning because I get out of shape every winter. I hope the sun shines on you soon.
