This Week on the Dining Table

It's the "The Fun and Eating is Over for Another Year" Edition--

This is my brother holding his now empty pan of ribs.
The family reunion picnic has come and gone for another year.

Onward to the meal planning!

4. Wednesday--Fend for Yourself Night
5. Thursday--Leftovers-Stroganoff, Chicken filling from Tacos, Chicken n' Dumplings

And this is what actually happened--

1. Sunday--Beef Stroganoff, Mixed Beans & Carrots(Noodles for Hubs)
2. Monday--Fend for Yourself Night-I have a big salad
3. Tuesday--Chicken n' Dumplings w/Carrots
4. Wednesday--Fend for Yourself Night-I had leftover Stroganoff and Veggies
5. Thursday--Subway sandwiches
6. Friday--Asian dining out
7. Saturday--Italian dining out

Not much cooking as we were going away and we tried to eat up all the stuff that would go bad while we were traveling this past weekend.

As for my grocery spending last week......a half gallon of milk, a small trip to Weis for deals and a bag of biscuit flour while in VA at the Food Lion took my weekly grocery spending to $17.21 for a monthly total so far this month of $141.23(plus the .87¢ I've spent at Rite-Aid this month).
I have $207.90 left in the food budget for September, which ends on Wednesday.

Leftovers going into this week....beef stroganoff and chicken and dumplings(I'm having that for breakfast Monday and Tuesday).  I also have half of my Sunday dinner sandwich leftover to have Monday for lunch.

Here is this week's food plan--

1. Sunday--Eating Out while traveling-I had a Roast Beef Panini and Salad
2. Monday--Leftover Beef Stroganoff, Veggie TBD
3. Tuesday--Ribs, Yellow Squash and Onions
4. Wednesday--Smoked Chicken, Smoked Potato Salad, Smoked Apples
5. Thursday--Fish, leftover veggies, cheddar broccoli soup
6. Friday--Leftovers
7. Saturday--Leftovers

What I need to buy for this menu?......ribs, chicken and apples which are on sale and I'll pick up today.  I will be smoking meat(and potatoes)Tuesday we will eat the rest of the week.  A fish dish will break up the smoked meat festival. lolz  I'll make a new smoked apple dessert on Wednesday too so stay tuned for that recipe late in the week.
I'll need to pick up more milk and salad greens(for me for lunches this week).

I have plenty of money left for September to buy meat and then on Thursday we roll over into a new month's worth of food money.

I'll also make the broccoli soup this week.  Later this week it's suppose to stay in the 60's(for highs)so that soup will be welcomed warmth. 8-)

What is getting fixed and served at your house this week?

Was last week's plan successful, did you go off plan or did you not even plan what was going to be eaten that week?

Any great deals on food at your stores this week?

  1. My plan for the week is t eat yummy buffets in Vegas. Not a bad plan is it?
I'll be back and then on super saver mode. I need to fund the Christmas fund and STAT. I've piddle farted around enough with it and now I have to get serious! Well, until I need liquor and then it won't be so important.

  2. I have a bag of frozen chicken breasts that I have been eating in salad and chicken sandwiches. I will continue this when I get more greens for salad. Milk in $3/gal at Kroger. So, I can price match that. I may have my birthday dinner on Tuesday after the doctor apt since exbf is driving me there. That will be Ruby Tuesday unless we eat in Huntsville. I have tuna for the salads. Plus, bacon and eggs are at the standby. There is some free yellow squash that might make its way into a squash casserole.

  3. I've got a huge acorn squash burning hold in my counter... I can't wait to bake that!
We're attempting to be extremely frugal until the next payday, so we're using groceries that we've bought and forgotten about this week.
I'm thinking something noodly tonight, but Robb already stuck something in the crock pot. I'll see if it would be good with noodles... I bought some yummy sounding ones at a farmers market that I've been dying to use.

  4. Looks good, Sluggy. I hardly ever meal plan. I just make sure I have enough food in the house to make several meals and it seems to work. I did use up the last of the potatoes, which was good since one was on the verge of spoiling. I would hate to lose half the bag as I know that can happen quickly if one is not careful. Hope you have a great week.

  5. We are eating whatever I have frozen. I have to defrost the freezer so we are clearing out as much as possible before the end of the week when I am doing it. There is no telling what hideous concoctions I will come up with, but my hope is they will at least be edible.

  6. Darn! Now I want some ribs. LOL! I don't think we have any in the freezer, so I will have to eat something else. Hubby spent $111 at the grocery store this week!!! We will be eating at home for a while.
