"Film at 11" of Day One of the Great Summer Road Trip of 2013

So tired and not enough time to perform proper hygiene this evening and edit, write and post photos and a report on Day One of the Great Summer Road Trip of 2013-Sluggy Edition.

So I'll just post this short video to whet your appetites for more......or give you a sick feeling in your stomachs, you decide. lol

We are somewhere in the bowels of Ohio this evening and it's  past my bedtime.

Enjoy the film and wish us luck on Day Two's traveling.

  1. How are you enjoying the scenery of the back of the truck? I think the excitement of "road trips" is a thing of the past.

  3. That could border on boring. But, it has a Steve Martin quality. I thought he was so stupid that he was hilarious and sexy. Your video--cannot wait for the next one of the same boring quality. Just kidding, sort of. Don't you hate those detours that make you lost? But, hey, if there is a McD, you are not lost.

My husband and I got lost and ended up in Youngstown, Ohio about five years in a row. After the first year, we knew exactly where to stop for a soft serve cone.

Be sure and take food videos, too.

  4. Oooh, did my comment seem mean? Since you did not post it, I suppose you did not know I was laughing the whole time. Sorry.

  5. Believe it or not, where you are sitting in your car is a thriving metropolis compared to where I live an hour from there. I am from Kane, PA. One stop light, 2 blinking lights and no fast food except a Subway. Probably the only town in the world where Burger King went out of business twice! If you turn your car in the opposite direction in 10 minutes you would be in Dubois, PA (an hour and 10 minutes from my house) which is our closest decent (and I use that term loosely) mall. It is tied with Jamestown, NY for decent shopping, which is also 1 hour and 10 minutes from my house. If you drive about 35 minutes from Kane to Bradford, PA, St. Marys, PA or Warren, PA you can actually find a walmart, but you have to go to Jamestown or Dubois to get a mall with more than 2 or 3 stores. We are 2 hours from Erie, PA and 3 hours from Pittburgh, PA where you have great retail, not just decent.
It is frustrating sometimes to have so little shopping when you really need something, but it is actually beautiful here. We are at the top of a mountain chain. You can see hills in every direction driving into Kane, but not so much when you get here because we are at the top!
What we lack in retail options we more than make up for in family and hometown pride. We are staunch supporters of public education and I don't know where else that can be found! Lack of shopping does = less money blown on a bunch of stuff we don't need anyways which is a good thing.
I hope the rest of your trip is great! I look forward to more updates!
